Health FAQs
I am a member of an HMO where the doctors pooh-pooh my condition. I am fifty-six yrs. old and have suffered from this condition for about 10 yrs. The constant pain has made it difficul to perform my job duties, and I feel I may need to take some disability time off. Does anyone know of a physician that can help me with this.

First of all, ask for a referral to doctor that specializes in rheumatoid disorders. Next, don’t believe people when they say it’s a catch all name for a disease when the docs can’t figure out whats wrong with you. Fibro is often referred to as the invisible disease because some people refuse to believe it’s existence. There are also several good websites that may be of help

You should be checked for liver disease, mainly hepatitis c.
If you’ve ever been to the dentist, ever had surgery or was a recipient of blood donation or served in the military or ever experiemented with drugs, you could be infected.
Have the doctor run a Hepatitis C test.
Another test is Hepatitis B (although quite different than C)
HCV loves to ruin the liver and try and hide anywhere it can and has been known to reside in joint spaces and even bone, as well as many other organs. HCV needs the liver to regenerate its messangers, so just as your body thinks its got the virus figured out, a new round of viral activity (quasispecies) are sent out….HCV creeps up on many and fibromyalgia constitutes a large majority of the HCV infected….GET TESTED.

Dr. Ridha Arem has done extensive work on the condition. Check him out at the Texas Medical Center. He believes that fibromyalgia and thyroid disease are related.
