I think that when you start you period is when you are at an appropriate age to start using birth control. It can be used for getting rid of period pain (like me) or getting rid of your period completely (like my sister) or making them lighter. Either way they are great to use when you period becomes a real bother! It is also known to make your skin clearer (however i wouldn’t go on the pill just for that!)
The Pill can also provide relief by steadying hormones, but different symptoms require different pills.

I think I’ve heard it helps regulate your periods, and some, make your periods come less often.
no, you dont really, need to take birth control if your having sex. I dont think there is a right age.

There really isn’t a "right age" for birth control. That will reallly ultimatley be up to you as to when you think you should start. When your ready, and you will know believe me, go to a health dept or your doctor and tell them your ready to start and they will get you started. BUT, don’t have sex for at least a month till the b/c gets into your system good and if you ever take antibiotics, use condoms ((( use them anyway ))) but, antibiotics weaken b/c and most girls don’t know this.

well the main reason for taking birth control… is birth control. so if you don’t need to prevent pregnancy then you don’t need it. oral contraceptives have secondary benefits, such as making your cycle regular (you will know exactly when you will get your period), some brands help reduce acne.
so, technically, you could start birth control when you’re as young as 14 or 15 because it can help with acne or irregular cycles – if those were a problem in the first place.
keep in mind that birth control pills have health risks as well.
so, i think the right age is the age you become sexually active – this is different for everyone. the only exception if your cycle jumps around and you have no idea when your period will come, or if you need help battling acne.
