What is my next step for oral hygiene?
I’ve had swollen, tender, bleeding gums for as long as I can remember. My dentist says it’s not gingivitis, but that I’m on the verge of having it. Ever since my last dentist appointment (May or June), I’ve been flossing like crazy. Recently, I bought a new Oral-B electric toothbrush and I’ve started using mouth wash.
But ever since I started using the mouth wash (Act), and the new toothbrush, I’ve noticed my gums on my top teeth have gotten a little more swollen. So far, it hasn’t been reducing the swelling OR the bleeding.
My next dentist appointment isn’t until December. Is it supposed to get worse before it gets better, or should I see my dentist ASAP, no matter if I have an appointment in December or not?

ACT does not contain antimicrobial agents in it. (It won’t kill the bacteria in your mouth that causes bleeding) ACT is a mouthrinse with fluoride in it. Be sure you are brushig after every meal for at least 2 minutes, and use a mouthwash like listerine or crest health pro.

Yeah, like she said. Act is just a flouride rinse. I suggest Crest Pro Health Rinse, and its alcohol free.
