Before I begin, I’d like to explain that I have Amelogenesis Imperfecta, also known as Congenital Enamel Hypoplasia. For those who aren’t schooled in dental lingo, it’s a hereditary condition that screws up the developement of my teeth and makes the hard outter shell (enamel) thinner/weaker than normal. This disorder and improper hygiene when I was younger have led to my current problems. My dental condition has more or less stabilized since I began taking proper care of my oral hygiene.
A couple of years ago, I had the second molar on the top left side of my mouth (tooth 15 to those who know dentistry) extracted and the second molar on the bottom left side (tooth 18) crowned. However, the wisdom tooth (tooth 16) grew in to replace the extracted tooth only to crack and now also need extraction because of improper placement of the crown.
Because I am having the compromised wisdom tooth (16) extracted, along with both second molars on the right side of my mouth (2 and 31), I was considering having the impoperly crowned tooth (18)removed as well. I believe that having all four teeth removed would allow for the three remaining, healthy wisdom teeth (1, 17 and 32) to simply replace the pulled ones as nature originally intended while also cutting out both the risk and cost associated with having the crown removed/repaired/replaced and the surgical extraction of the wisdom tooth behind it. I also think that having the wisdom tooth replace the crowned tooth will possibly allow for better placement of an implant in the now empty spot.
Opinions? Does anyone think that I should press this matter with my dentist? Would it cost more than an average extraction to have the crowned tooth extracted?
Ok I have been very silly and my oral hygiene has been very poor for years ( please if u are answering this please understand I was abused for so many years I hated my self and depression took over my life for years I stupidly didn’t look after my teeth and ate so many sweets, the worry and shame I feel about is undiscribable… In a word I’m terrified!)
I’m 27 and have numerous filling my dentist said that my teeth really arnt great buy sees no reason why they shouldn’t last… But my question is this, inbetween my front teeth in the edge where they touch is a yellowy mark I know is the start of decay it been there for ages and up untill I
started getting my teeth done thought it was where they rubbed, I have noticed I seem to have to have a ridge on
some teeth at the gum line of the to teeth that’s slightly yellow could that also be the start of decay not hugley
noticeable but I’m obsessed with them at the now and have
really looked!! Ok the main question is I know that I cannot
take back any damage I have caused but if I have now
really cut out sugars like a treat once a fortnight and I brush
2-3 times a day use flouraguard n floss will it Stop the
decay from turning black?…. I’ve seen people with black
decay round the ridges and inbetween n cosmetically is
soul destroying! Am I kidding my self that I can halt any
more damage if I’m religious with my oral hygien now?!

I am a teenager and I am almost positive I have periodontal disease do to some bad oral hygiene choices in the past but haven’t been to a dentist in several year because my parents cannot find one they like. The other day while eating crackers I broke a tooth one of my molars to be precise which was most likely caused because cavities have weakened the tooth. to avoid any further problems I told my mom the tooth broke she told me she would try to find a dentist and make an appointment as soon as possible. but after doing a little research the dentist will have to examine my oral health before doing anything and any procedure to fix the tooth is going to be costly but if I need more to help with periodontal disease that is going to make the charge go way up and we don’t exactly have the money to pay for anything what with the economic crisis we are going through. I already felt bad for making my parents pay for online classes and this makes me feel absolutely terrible. I am extremely scared about a dentist appointment for these reasons and have been shaking for the past 10-20 minutes any advice at all? can anyone help me out or even just give advice/
thanks in advance
I have a twin brother who has three daughters 4, almost 3, and 1. Now that I have started my dental hygiene program, I am learning how important it is to care for your children’s teeth (it helps that while I am working in clinic, I can hear the children screaming from the dentist drilling). Anyway, I don’t believe my brother is doing an adequate job managing his daughters oral hygiene. His older daughters refuse to drink tap water so he gives them bottled water (w/o fluoride) and my mom, who babysits for them 4 days a week, said that he doesn’t brush their teeth often. How can I tell him that he should do a better job? Or is this none of my business?
He wouldn’t talk to me for 6 months when I tolded him his gf was cheating on him….3 kids later his wife left him for another man.
By the way, I am a mother of a 2 and 4 year.
I meant "do" in the question
I did buy his oldest daughter a princess powered toothbrush….I will probably bring more when we meet up for x-mas. Thanks
To answer your questions:
1. I included the whol gf thing to show that he would rather get mad at me then listen to my thoughts
2. Fluoride is important for children to help prevent decay
3. My mom asks the 4 year old if her daddy brushes her teeth
4. My mom brushes the kids teeth when she is there
5. See #3 above
Hi every1 out there, i m glad u take a look at my question. I m desperately in search for a cure for bad breath. Honestly, i dunno whether i m having it anot, honestly sometimes i do smell unpleasent breath from myself, but very seldom.
I consulted my parents about this but they usually dismiss this talk and convince me that my breath is normal.
I trust them at first, as i brush daily, i have normal oral hygiene, but the thing is, everywhere i go, shopping malls, lectures, people tend to scratch their nose and start sneezing with my presence.
This pretty sure proved that there is something wrong with my breath. But i don think my problem come from unhygienic oral routine, i brush daily.
IS THERE ANY OTHER REASONS that can caused badbreath? how to alleviate this?
PLS some1 help, my frens are turning against me now becoz of this, i suffered this for past 4 years and i think is the time to stand up and ask this question now
