I ask this question because I find the notion that says modern oral hygiene is practically on par with having air, water, food, shelter, and clothing to be absurd. I would say that it is of relative importance, but not all-encompassing. So how exactly did they manage without the advent of modern chemicals?

Any natural alternatives to toothbrushing, flossing, etc.? Besides drinking piss :/..

I was eating some hard candy about 2 years ago and broke a tooth (one of the ones on top, on the side…not visible when smiling). I haven’t felt any pain whatsoever but for the past couple of months it has really been bothering me. What can I expect of the overall experience? I will be going through Greenberg Dental so if anyone has any experience with this group, your feedback would be great. How much can I expect to pay (I have Delta Dental insurance)? What is the pain like? How much will it cost? What is the recovery time? Is there any maintenance afterwards (other than normal oral hygiene)? I am going to try to do it in January but may have to get it done sooner because I can no longer chew on that side of the mouth and it hurts to even brush my teeth on that side of my mouth. PLEASE HELP!!!

I have what feels like a painless pin-point of a ulcer on my upper gum and I am seeing dentist Monday

Cancer is on my mind because I am having a cyst removed from the sole of my foot soon and that will be sent off to pathology for a cancer test

I am 50, former moderate drinker and former smoker.

I sort of would like to know how rare mouth cancer is. The sore or canker is just above my tooth on the surface of the gum.

I was clinically depressed earlier in the year following bereavement and oral hygiene wasn’t at its best.

My daughter has a friend who is 20 years old. He has had problems with his teeth since middle school and his parents didn’t do anything to help him. Now at 20 when he should be smiling and enjoying life he is afraid to show his teeth because he doesn’t have many and the ones he does have are decaying or already decayed. I feel terrible for this kid and if I could afford to get his teeth fixed for him I would. He works for a construction company but for right now it’s under the table and he has no insurance. His mother recently got laid off and he is helping her pay her rent as well as his. Which I find funny because she didn’t care about his oral hygiene growing up but now that she needs the help it’s fine for him to help her. That’s another discussion though that I could go on and on about. Anyway – he doesn’t have the money or the insurance. My question is what are his other options? Are there any? Can he get veneers or will he need dentures? Are there any options for him? I really want to see this kid have a chance at a good life and although having teeth doesn’t make a good life having self-esteem and confidence does and right now he is lacking both. Thank you for any serious suggestions you may have.
