Basically I’m getting caps in a few days and realize that you can’t whiten them. So I want to make my teeth as white as possible beforehand…but only have 3 days. What is the quickest way?

Hello, I just came back from an orthopedic dental consultation about my crooked front teeth. This is the second one I’ve seen, the first one suggested that I get braces and have 4 teeth removed to make room for them to spread out in my mouth, and said that it would take 2 years to get the problem resolved. Even though I’m in my late 20s, I was prepared to go for this. However this new specialist I saw suggested that I get them capped instead. He intends to basically saw my 4 upper font teeth (incisors), root canal all 4 of them, and then basically cap them so that they are all perfectly straight.
The idea seems strange to me, since the teeth are crossing over a bit, but the dentist believes that he can get them to look perfect, in just 2 sessions. This obviously sounds too good to be true, that I don’t have to wear an ugly brace for 2 years. But I would like to know, what the disadvantages of doing it this way are. Hope I get answers before 5 days, since that’s when it begins. thanks.
thanks for the advice so far, although I’m still leaning towards the veneers/caps. I know its not the best thing to get root canals into healthy teeth, but the brace method has them pulling 4 teeth, so either way I’m losing 4 roots..
So I guess I’m going to just have the caps done then. Hope all does well :)
thanks for all the answers. I think chirum gave the most detailed answer, so I’ll choose him as best answer. Although I appreciate the advice, I haven’t gone with it, and I now have my temps on ready for my veneers in 7 days. I’m happy with how they look and feel, perhaps I won’t be in the future, time will tell. But well, one thing I didn’t mention before was that I’m a trainee lawyer, and I can’t really wait 2 years of having braces in a law firm, it’s just too unsightly so i had to add that into the equation. I am getting rather strong veneers though, so I expect them to last a while. Thanks again for all the answers.

-i grind my teeth in my sleep, and i want to know if this is a good idea. my teeth are the size of a small childs too, some say i have the same "vampire teeth" kirsten dunst has
*help! before i grind them down to nubbins! (i hate wearing a mouth guard. is that my only option?)
and if i do get caps, can they be replaced once i start grindin them down? or are they permanent?
