How long would it take to die from puerperal fever? We had a very heated argument over the death of Jane Seymour and I do not beleive that she died of the fever. I think she died from the medical procedures used to extract the baby.
She reportedly died within 12 days of the birth but was immediately bedridden and bleeding.
Thanks in advance.
Since it’s a bacteria it should take a certain period to incubate. The infection would be present for awhikle before it became symptomatic.

Since it causes septicemia (whole body widespread infection) which is hard to treat even today, given the time period, Im surprised she lived THAT long.
Edit: To be exact, Puerperal Fever is not a real diagnosis in most of the west anymore. Now it is referred to as "genital tract sepsis/septicemia". This can be due to unclean tools, or an already present infection. However, when it comes to sepsis, there is no incubation time. Its already directly in your blood stream, triggering many life threatening reactions.
