How do you gain weight when you have a really fast metabolism?

Health FAQs
I am really skinny, but I eat a lot. I even heard my dotor talking to my parents, saying that she though I was anorexic, but I am not! People at my school make fun of me too. How can I gain weight so my doc and fam wont worry, and so people at school dont make fun of me??
Please help!
I dont want to eat lots of greesy, sugary food, because that is really uhealthy and I have tried it — it doesnt work! :(

Wait on your 30s to hit you. You are going to be the lucky person at your high school reunion who all the girls ask "Oh, my god, how are you so thin and beautiful?"…
Meaning, you will normal out very soon. Tell people at school to go shove a cheeseburger up their ass!

You should work out and take weight boosters and you won’t get fat cuz it’ll turn into muscle and you can also start eating meat more often…i have a very high metabolism too and play soccer so it’s incredibly hard for me to gain weight…

well if you eat a lot and don’t gain a lb then I really don’t know maybe you could try eating a lot of protein and junk food and not being physically active whatsoever. Personally, I would love to be in your shoes even though it might suck sometimes.

Well this is bad for you and you wont feel very good but it sure does help. Dont exercise a ton, and eat candy and other fatty foods with calories!
mia on August 27, 2010 at 11:36 pm
well why do you ask cause there is something that you can do but this would be totally wrong what if you ate more carbs and fattining stuff you probaly could put on the pounds you want!

try eating white bread, fatty foods, eating 3 big meals a day, with snacks. Also any food that may be bad for you or fattening is good to eat.

eat more… but stay away from spicey things because they make your metabolism higher

I’m in your same situation.
I was told eat more proteins and fats to try and gain weight.
Well, I was like thinking… I don’t exactly eat healthy. Yet, people assume, including my doctor as well, that I’m annorexic.
I even went on the McDonalds diet for a week. I lost 6 pounds!! Haha. And that was 3 square meals a day from the drive-thru.
Some people would kill to have a metabolism that good though. It might catch up with you in the future, so enjoy it now -that has become my take on it.

Don’t worry about it. If you are not anorexic and are eating normal, don’t stress. You are who you are and you should be happy with that. If you are not, explore why you aren’t rather than worry about gaining weight. If you really do want to gain weight, talk to a health professional. Just eating bad food isn’t the right thing to do. Eat more protein – chicken, meat, good veggies, etc., and start some weight training. Light weights but combined with the protein, you’ll get some definition and it will help your body look more filled out. But make sure you are eating enough. It will not hurt you to eat 1200-1500 calories a day while doing weights. Just make sure they are good calories.
But most of all – be happy with yourself and don’t let others get you down on how you look.

Don’t worry about it. I was like that as a teen too, but now people always tell me they wish they were as skinny as me. You will put on a little weight as you get older, but be happy with your metabolism.
If you really want to gain weight, do some weight training at the gym, and eat more calories than you burn. But I wouldn’t do that. My advice is that you eat healthy and be happy with the size you are meant to be.

I have the excact same problem as u. I gained 5 pounds by not excercizing [sp] all that much. I still do the normal walking and playing outside, but I don’t do 500 sports like other people do. (I do 3 types of dancing though. tap, jazz and hip-hop)

Your going to have to accept you are like that. I know a few people like you who are very thin. They don’t diet and eat all and anything they want. They would also like to gain weight and haven’t been able to. I also know some people who as a child were very thin. Once they had children they gained. Maybe some day when your older and have children. Your system will change. And you’ll have no problem trying to put on weight.

I used to be really skinny a couple of years ago (90 pounds), and now I only weigh 96! I asked a friend of mine about what she did to gain weight, since she had the same problem when she was my age. Here’s what she told me: fatty, sugary junk foods have a lot of "empty" calories. Empty calories are calories that mostly come from fat, aren’t good for you, and usually disappear if you have a fast metabolism. My home ec teacher told me about the new food pyramid, that tells you how much calories you should be getting based on your age and other conditions. If you want to gain weight, I suggest you take in more calories and excercise regularly. More protein in your diet will help give you the energy you need to work out, and will also help you "bulk up". Bulking up with regular excercising will help you gain weight, without looking "fat".
