Did you say they accidentally missed the epidural membrane and punctured your spinal chord?!?! You should be careful where you get this procedure done, a spinal cord is delicate yet resilient ‘extension of your brain’. Be cautious injecting steroid, it has many bad side-effects on the rest of the body.

Overall,
I was also told by many doctors (collected 18 doctor’s business cards) that this injection and surgery where “inevitable”. And that I would never “walk without pain if i did not get the procedures done”. However, since then I have hiked up the Swiss Alps and various Mts. in Hong Kong. Don’t let Doctors bully you into invasive procedures, do your research before hand. Ask questions and find-out if certain procedures will eliminate the root of problem.

ave a herination of my L5/S1 disc. I have had one steriod injection and about weeks later i started to get all the syptoms back even the sciatica i was suffering from. To top it all off its worlk related but work have knocked my claim back and now i have no job and no income. I have at least a 6months wait on a public waiting list for another steriod injection. The pain is something i wouldnt wish on my worst enemy! Anybody have any suggestions??

I saw a treatment of bee stings to the back in the areas of discomfort. I finally tried it a month ago. I thought it was Bull but my pain is sunder control. I don’t recommend this unless you do your research and are ready for stings(you get use to them) or are allergic. It worked for me, The medical community needs to look into this more closely. My father is an MD and both of us were skeptical but it did worked for me. He thinks the venom goes to work on the nerves. Who knows.

it is generally done before ACL reconstruction operations! there is very very huge ache after the operation for 2-3 days! it prevents this ache!

this is not painful at all, well mine wasn’t… Only time I felt any pain was a quick poke and burn when the dr. injected the local to numb the area. Took a total of 5 minutes and then I was up on my feet with no complications. I did have severe lower back cramping the first day but ice packs and rest helped. The lower back pain eased up over the next couple days.

I have had this today, and the pain, i couldn’t bare it. It was the worst pain i’ve ever felt. I hope it stays with this one time injection, but i’m not sure at all, because the pain can return. But the fact is I’m only 16. It’s such a horror. Having this on my age.

i had this done today for a leaking L5 and a hunriated L4&5 like Nisiej im pretty young for this kind of injury at 23. I will say the procedure isnt very painful at all just discomfort. I dont see why you had this injection if this was the worst pain you ever felt tho. It didnt even come close to the back pain i feel every minute. So anyone else having this done dont worry, the Local numbing agent stings a little and then the only other discomfort is the steriods themselves
adion33 on December 23, 2009 at 6:11 am
It only lasts 20-30 seconds at most and then your done. It will be tender for the 24-48 hours and then hopefully in 3-7 days you feel relief. Atlest that is what i am hoping for.

To all that have this painful for of back pain i invite you to send a personal message to OBESPRING1982 whom has sent me several messages calling me a crip and laughing that fact that people have this problem. Its disgusting in my opinion so if you feel the need let him know how you feel about people of this nature. Thank you and I all pray for you to eventually have the same result i recieved from the injections which has allowed me to have my life back.

I have had this done on my neck and lower back. On my neck the site was not initially numbed, but on my back it was. They sprayed a local anethesia which burnt really bad. I would rather not have the spray. The procedure is not painful at all. To be direct, it feels like a balloon between your spine. That to me is very discomforting. I tend to have pain only for about 8 hrs, and it’s very mild. I feel 300x better than my first visit. I recommend this to anyone with major back pain.

I had this a week ago. I can walk a little better and can get out of bed better with less pain. They gave me propofol and I don’t remember anything.
HopeRenae on April 17, 2010 at 3:04 am
@adion33 did it help with the pain?
adion33 on April 20, 2010 at 7:17 am
@HopeRenae for a period of time yes it did. Its been about 3 months or so now and the sleepless nights are returning, as is the constant feeling of being uncofortable in any position for longer than 3 minutes. The relief for that time period was well worth it though in my opinion.

I recently had 3 of these ESI procedures within the span of just a few months. The Dr also had me on the anti-inflammatory medicine MOBIC, which I’d been taking since my injury in August of last year. In JAN this year, I had my 2nd & 3rd ESI procedures done. Did they work? HELL NO! All they did was cause a SERIOUS BLEEDING ULCER, resulting in me bleeding out at home, being transported to the E.R. by ambulance & spending a week in ICU. Am now awaiting surgery. This is NOT a “routine” procedure!
HopeRenae on June 22, 2010 at 12:10 am
@adion33 it did not work for me. I ended up having a lumbar laminectomy, which hasn’t helped with the pain either.
Brisoup1 on June 30, 2010 at 2:16 am
I had this done today on my L1 S5 disk . The pains still there but not as severe. The local anestetic stung just a little bit, but when the doctor was moving the steroid needle he tapped the affected nerve to confirm it was the correct one and it DID hurt, but just for 3 seconds or so. He told me to call him in 1 week and if the pain is still there I would need another shot. I start Physical therapy in a few days. He said this only mask’s the pain, it does not fix the heiniation.
castromiguel723 on July 8, 2010 at 9:29 am
the “PRONE” position in this procedure
its funny how he says that..xDD

Had disc herniations at both L4-L5 and L5-S1…the pain will be masked but the injections however over time these herniations can lead to nerve damage. In my case the hernation was pushing on the nerve so much, my foot became numb and I had constant pain in my calf…The lumbar surgery was the best thing possible and pain was instantly removed
