Sinus Relief in Less Than a Minute
The SinuPulse Elite was developed and engineered in Switzerland to be the best and most advanced nasal sinus irrigation system in the world complete with state-of-the-art electronics and Intellipulse™ technology. The SinuPulse Elite® is an award-winning sinus irrigation system which features the patented SinuMist® function. It is the only sinus irrigator capable of delivering both a gentle pulsating mist spray for doctor recommended rinses, solutions, or simple moisturizing and a more thorough cleansing pulsating rinse to clear the sinuses and massage the nasal cilia to their normal, healthy state. It really is like having two units in one! The oscillating stream of saline gently breaks down bio-film and frees your cilia to help you clear your sinuses of infections and foreign substances that can lead to chronic infections and allergy symptoms.

The SinuPulse Elite is a soothing drug free device to relieve symptoms caused by sinus infections, sinusitis, allergies and the common cold including: post nasal drip, cough, congestion, sinus headaches, and irritated nasal passages. Recommended by leading health care professionals pulsating irrigation is supported by published medical reports.

Nasal Irrigation is believed to have originated over 5,000 years ago in ancient India. The practice of irrigation in ancient times consisted of manually sniffing a saltwater solution into the nostrils to help relieve nasal congestion by rinsing the sinus passages of pollens originating from grasses, weeds, flowers and trees. Modern day neti pots and nasal wash bottles continue this tradition and have changed little over the last 5,000 years. However, advancements have been made in both the design of sinus irrigation delivery systems and the solutions used to clean the nose of inflammatory irritants responsible for allergy and sinus symptoms.

Imagine rain drops falling from the sky landing on the soil with a gentle force that breaks apart soil particles. As this process continues, runoff water travels over the ground, collecting more soil particles dislodged by the rain and transports them to a new location. Pulsatile irrigation mimics a cleansing process present in nature. The SinuPulse Elite® pulsating treatment is gentle, pleasant, & soothing leaving you feeling clear and fresh. The sinus system uses ordinary saline, or for best results, our enhanced SinuAir® nasal irrigation solution.

The SinuPulse Elite advanced features include: state-of-the-art Micro Touch power button, electronic LED display, encapsulated motor and pump assembly to resist wear from saline, improve durability and performance. fully adjustable pressure and pause control on handle for finger tip control, hypo allergenic design, calibrated pulse rate, measurement scale, hi-capacity water tank with hygienic cover, soft color coded nasal tips for family members, and sinus treatment information.

    Amazing relief!!

    Review Date: January 29, 2008
    Reviewer: BKD, Oregon, United States
I've also used a neti pot, but this is far superior. I have severe allergies, year round, and a friend recommended the neti pot which my doctor had never mentioned. It worked so well, right off the bat, that I purchased this, and I'm amazed. It takes only a few minutes, and I use it once in the morning and once before bed just as part of my normal routine. The thing is terrific, and I get instant relief PLUS the nighttime usage has really helped that early morning stuffiness. I can't get over the change. If you suffer allergies or other sinus issues, this could really, really improve your comfort level. I still have to take my meds, but at least now I can stay on top of problem, and I give full credit to the SinuPulse. It sounds like I'm one of their employees, but I'm not, just a regular person with allergies. And I'm breathing!! YAY!
The SinuPulse helped me immediately. This is the best irrigation treatment I have used. Great product and customer service

    Review Date: November 15, 2008
    Reviewer: Mark K,
After suffering with my sinuses for many years and an endless supply of drugs and nasal sprays I decided to try nasal irrigation. After reading Dr. Ivker's book, Sinus Survival about the benefits of pulsating irrigation and how it is the most effective method for nasal irrigation I purchased a SinuPulse which he recommends over all other irrigators. Within just a few days of using it I felt better than I had in years.

The $97.00 I paid is by far the best money I've ever spent. When I consider the thousands I have spent on drugs and sprays I only wish I had found it sooner. I have since ordered a second one for a family friend and recommend it to all allergy and sinus sufferers out there, nothing compares.

On a side note, I contacted the manufacturer to order extra sinus tips and they offered to send a couple at no charge. They even spent time with me pointing out facts in their user guide I overlooked about how I could make my own saline with just regular non iodized table salt and water and that you can use any saline product with the SinuPulse. With the tough economy and money tight I really appreciated their honesty and generosity. I personally like the SinuAir saline packets that come with the SinuPulse better and they are convenient but I liked that they were not all about just selling tons of saline packets like the other guys. Really great customer service which is a miracle itself in this day and age.
I Wish I Had Tried the SinuPulse Sooner!

    Review Date: August 5, 2009
    Reviewer: Rita Senator,
I am a registered nurse for 24 years and have suffered with chronic sinusitis for 15+ years. I have tried everything from making changes in my environment to nasal irrigation. My allergist, ENT, and general practitioner have all suggested I irrigate my sinuses twice a day. They say it's like washing your face. It makes sense.
I have done this off and on for years using a bulb syringe, a neti pot, and then the plastic squeeze bottle. I felt like the daily irrigation was doing nothing and I was still getting sinus infections. Plus, I kept getting fluid in my ears. So I resorted to just using the irrigation when I did get a sinus infection.
I happened to be talking to another nurse and she suggested I try a pulsating irrigator. I had seen the Grossan irrigator before, but thought, "What could it possibly do for me that the others do not?" I also thought, "I am willing to try anything." So I went to order it online and that is when I saw the SinuPulse. At this time, I didn't know which product to try since they cost the same and seemed to do the same thing.
I called and spoke with a service rep at Health Solutions. I was impressed that he took so much of his time to talk to me. He explained to me what the SinuPulse did. He emphasized how the SinuPulse sends a gentle but leveraged pulsating saline rinse into the nasal passages and lower sinuses. This pulsating action is more effective at removing debris because it can penetrate and get into more areas of the sinuses than a simple nasal wash product like a neti pot or bottle. It also helps to break down biofilm, massage the mucosa, and helps restore the function of the cilia. (The cilia are the microscopic hairs which naturally move debris from the sinus passages.)
I think the SinuPulse is well designed. The unit has no latex or rubber which is great for me since I am sensitive to these materials. The plastic is antimicrobial. The unit holds about 1 liter of solution. In addition to the nasal irrigation tip, there is an atomizer. I do not see this feature on the grossan product. By using this tip, you can administer a fine spray of saline into the sinus cavities. This is much more effective than using a saline spray bottle to keep your nose moist. You can also use it to administer medications or other rinses much more effectively than a simple spray. (I would consult with your physician about what solutions you can use with the atomizer.) When I have a sinus infection, I will use Pulmicort Respules, a steroid used for asthmatics in a nebulizer. (They inhale it.)
Besides the nasal irrigation tips, there are two for the throat. I didn't think I would use them. But I did and it helped tremendously. I sometimes get a nagging cough even though my sinuses feel clear. I guess there is still a fine layer of post nasal drip even after you irrigate the sinuses. It also has the atomizer tip to administer a fine mist your throat as needed.
When I first got the SinuPulse I had just finished a course of antibiotics for a sinus infection. But as usual, the sinus infection was not completely gone. I figured I would be on yet another course of antibiotics soon. Instead I tried the SinuPulse and within a week, the sinus infection was completely gone.
The other nice feature is the adjustable pressure. There is a knob to adjust the strength of the water pressure. With the sinus infection, my ears were starting to feel full. So I just irrigated my sinuses on the lowest setting. My ears did not get worse, in fact they cleared up since I was able to still irrigate my sinuses. In the past I would not irrigate my sinuses because it would just make my ears worse.
I am still amazed at how much clearer my sinus passages are after using the SinuPulse. I cannot believe how much better I feel. When I had the sinus infection, I used over a liter twice a day to irrigate my sinuses. Now I am in maintenance mode and use just 500cc twice a day.
I still use medication. One medication I use is Astelin, a nasal spray. Now when I use it after irrigating, the medication does not drip back out of my nose like usual. I'm guessing my sinus passages are clearer and the medication is covering more surface area.
I have been lazy and skipped irrigating my sinuses, but I find myself needing to irrigate my sinuses. Like most everyone, it is a hassle to irrigate your sinuses no matter what you use. But for the first time, I feel like this product is working, so I am using it.
I have noticed I have used less decongestants and expectorants too. I just haven't needed them. Knock on wood, I have not had a sinus related headache since I started using it. I tend to get many headaches along with the sinusitis.
You do need to get a system down and when you do, it only takes minutes and is very easy to use. It is not messy like the neti pot or squeeze bottle. With those, I would always get water everywhere including the mirror.
The true test will be how I do over time. I usually get a sinus infection about every 2-3 months. So, I'll have to see how I do especially with the cold and flu season approaching. At least now, I feel like I have some control over my situation and do not feel like I will have to suffer so much from sinus infections!
When I think of what one sinus infection costs, the SinuPulse is nothing. I have down time because I feel so awful. Then I end up spending money for at least one or two doctor visits, antibiotics, and sometimes a CT scan.
However, the rep at Health Solutions, told me to try the saccharin test. To do this, you place a little powder sweetener (like Sweet N Low) just inside your nose up against the septum and time how long it takes for you to taste the sweetener in the back of your throat. The first time I tried it, I never tasted it even after two tries and over one hour. Although, I did have a sinus infection still. I repeated the test about a week after the infection was gone and could taste the sweetener at 22 minutes.
I did look on the internet for information about the saccharin test. It is an easy way to test the "mucociliary" function in the nasal and sinus cavities. I plan to use this test to monitor my progress with the SinuPulse.

Some reviews I have read about the other irrigator claimed it can wear out early from the exposure to saline. The SinuPulse comes with a two year warranty. So I was not worried about investing in this product.
The SinuPulse comes with a certificate of medical necessity that can be completed by any physician for possible insurance reimbursement. Apparently many insurance companies will cover some of the cost and reimburse.
I highly recommend the SinuPulse to anyone who suffers from sinus problems. I think children could use it too as long as they are supervised.
    SinuPulse as good as advertised

    Review Date: September 21, 2008
    Reviewer: TOlsh,
After messing around with the neti pot for 6 months and feeling a little better I decided to trade up to one of these powered irrigators. I liked that the SinuPulse has both a pulsating mist spray and pulsating rinse but even more important for me was the 2 year extended warranty. The Hydropulse only seems to last about a year and has too many problems reported with it. $100.00 is a lot of money for me so I needed a irrigator that was guaranteed to last a couple of years. Its only been a little over a month but my constant sinus headaches and morning congestion have almost entirely cleared up and I am breathing and sleeping so much better. It really is a lot easier to use than the neti pot and not as messy. Amazon has the best service too.
Great results! You won't regret buying it

I'm very pleased with this device because it does what it's supposed to - flush out your sinuses.
I've suffered with nasal congestion all my life. This product is an essential treatment.

It's funny, we wash our hands regularly, change the oil in our cars and vacuum our floors but most people never think to clean of the most used and vital parts of our body - our airways and nasal passages!
A big thumbs up all around

    Review Date: March 30, 2009
Reviewer: Waverly Wizard "Amazon Shopper", United States
I wanted to wait to use the product awhile before posting my experience as I have put a lot of time into checking out all the nasal irrigators especially the pulsating nasal irrigators before finally deciding on the Sinupulse. I have been using the Sinupulse and it has been extremely beneficial for me getting my allergy and sinus problems under control. I've used antihistamines and sprays and nothing ever worked for long.
I decided on the Sinupulse almost out of desperation, it is not cheap but I was at my wits end. Since using it I have felt better than I have in years. I am sorry I did not begin earlier I could have saved myself a lot of money and countless miserable days. It is also a relief to feel like you have regained some control and are not at the mercy of one doctor after another and the countless drugs they recommend none of which seemed to offer much help.

I like the large water tank that holds plenty of saline so you don't have to refill. Decide where you want the pressure control knob on the unit set, I like it on high. Turn on the unit and have your finger on the pressure control button on the handle and then you can adjust the pressure and even stop the flow altogether right at your finger tip by simply how hard you press the button. Having an additional pressure control button on the handle really makes it easy to use.

On a side note, the customer service is great, answered all my questions, and provided me with a lot of useful information that I have used in my daily routine like using alkalol and making use of the pulsating spray tip with products like grape seed extract or Xylitol which has been very helpful. They can help with reimbursement forms and offered to send me a couple of free tips for other family members. The extended warranty on the product is great as I hear these things can be finicky. My Sinupulse has been problem free but I have no doubt from the level of service I have received this company is one of the good ones. The combination of a product that works from a company that actually cares about customer satisfaction gets a big thumbs up from me and is not easy to find these days where customer service is nonexistent.
    A great, great product!

If I had to pick the one product that has really made my life better, it would have to be the SinuPulse Elite Advanced Nasal Sinus Irrigation System. I've had sinus problems for many years and this thing has relieved most of the problems that I've had with nasal congestion and sinus infections. What it does is provide a pulsating stream of warm saline solution that gently removes toxins and mucus from the sinuses and nasal cavities. After each daily one minute treatment, I can breath perfectly normal for a long time afterwards. I highly recommend it for anybody who has allergies, sinus problems or chronic nasal congestion
    The best nasal irrigator available

    Review Date: April 29, 2008
    Reviewer: mmwell,
I have used various types of irrigators including neti pots and squeeze bottles which were messy and not very effective for me. I read about an NBA athletic trainer discuss the SinuPulse and how much it helped the allergy and sinus problems for the players. Recently I heard it being discused on Oprah's radio show as well. It is easy to use, gentle, and works every time. Since using it, I have not had any infections I have been able to get off the drugs and my allergy symptoms have dramatically improved this spring. I especially like the flexibility the device offers with the two sprays - the pulsating mist spray for a more gentle moisturizing irrigation or the pulsating cleansing rinse on those days I need more rinsing.

I could not be any happier or impressed with the performance and value - it is worth every penny!
Terrific product for allergy and sinus problems

I have used the SinuPulse for about 6 months after first using neti pots and squeeze bottles. During this time I have not had a sinus infection or cold and my allergy symptoms have been dramatically improved. The gentle pusating irrigation is much more effective at clearing out my nasal passgaes and sinuses than with the use of neti pots and without the mess. It is very easy to use and only takes a minute or two each morning. If you suffer from allergy or sinus problems you should look to irrigate and the SinuPulse is the most advanced unit available. I recommend this product highly.

I have been a medical doctor for 30 years. I am also a sinus sufferer and like many of my patients I have endured the misery of allergy and sinus problems and know just how frustrating and debilitating they can be if left untreated or if they resist treatment.

I have been using the SinuPulse for some time and can personally attest to just how effective it is. It not only controls allergy and sinus symptoms it targets the source of the problem. The machine itself is simple and easy to use. The pulsating rinse maximizes the cleansing benefit, removes bacteria, and helps to restore the natural mucous function needed for healthy sinuses. Since using the SinuPulse I have been able to control my allergy and sinus problems without drugs. I irrigate regularly and recommend its use to just about anyone with allergy and sinus problems especially those that are experiencing recurrent infections, nasal congestion, sinus headaches, and post nasal drip. The relief can be dramatic. It is also a great tool to help prevent infections during the cold and flu season.

    SinuPulse best in its class

    Review Date: January 23, 2009
    Reviewer: James E. Morris,
I think I've used just about every type of irrigation product out and there's a bunch. For all those confused or not sure what to use I hope this helps. The neti pots and the nasal wash bottles that are everywhere are cheap so there isn't much risk of throwing your money away but they are little better than sniffing saline from your hand, very basic. You mix the saline packets they give you in the pot or bottle and flush your nose. The companies seem only to be interested in selling packaged salt and hope you keep coming back for more. They are messy and a bit unnatural as you have to tilt your head to use a neti pot and have the water drain into your nose. If you have a stiff neck forget it. The nasal wash bottles are a little easier to use because you can squeeze the bottle directly up your nose but you have to have a good grip. There is no control it's just an enema for your nose, again very basic and messy be careful or the water will run down your arm.

The pulsating irrigators are more expensive but way more effective and easy to use. They are mechanical so they can break down. I read too many stories of other water pik type irrigators that break down too easily and customers being told they did something wrong. I wanted to buy the best product from the best company. I did my homework and saw that the SinuPulse company has an"A" rating with the consumer rating agencies and appears to be the only pulsating nasal irrigator to have that. The Sinupulse is available directly from Amazon not some unknown dealer selling on Amazon and I liked that too. The SinuPulse has two irrigation methods not just one. A pulsating mist spray or a pulsating cleansing rinse for a deeper cleansing and is the only product that offers this 2 way rinse operation. The pulsating spray is great if you are a bit intimidated and want a gentle rinse. It makes the machine very versatile

Its easy to setup and takes a minute or two to irrigate. Pour in a packet of the saline powder they include or use regular salt and mix with a tank of water. The water tank can be heated in the microwave and is also dishwasher proof for easy cleaning. Many just use warm water from the tap. Lean over the sink, put the sinus tip up to your nose, turn it on and away you go. You can control the water flow right at the handle. It's simple and works great.

It comes with a professional user guide and a full month supply of the SinuAir saline packets. I like that you can use most any saline solution and they don't try to force you to keep buying their SinuAir but its good to have a box around. They even encourage making your own homemade saline solution. I read somewhere their focus is to provide the best irrigator not just sell salt. The SinuPulse even comes with two throat irrigators as well which can be used as tongue scrappers. I am guessing most folks overlook these but the Throat Mist Spray tip is great for rinsing away food particles and cleaning the tongue and can be used with your mouthwash.

To sum it up the SinuPulse is a great value and works great if you can afford it. If not get a cheap water pik and a sinus tip and save a few bucks but beware they don't have all the bells and whistles and may break down quickly. If you can afford it the SinuPulse is clearly the Cadillac. If you are serious about irrigation and want something easy with great results you won't be disappointed.
SinuPulse delivers terrific results immediately. Love it!

I was truly excited when the SinuPulse came out on the market. I was previously using the Hydropulse product and really liked how well pulsating irrigation works. What I didn't like was that I had to purchase a new one every year or so. It just didn't stand up to daily use.

After my last one died I began using a neti pot, but that was joke and what a mess! I decided to give the SinuPulse a try after speaking with a company rep that was very knowledgeable and helpful. I felt such relief using a pulsating irrigator again, which does a much better job of cleaning out my nose and sinuses quickly and without the mess or much fuss. The Hydropulse always seemed somewhat simple to me, more like a waterpik sold as a nasal irrigator for more money. I often wondered why it was so expensive given it didn't offer much more than your run of the mill water pik. I could not understand why with all the reports the manufacturer gets about it breaking down they could not figure out a way to make it last longer than a year given its high cost.

I was a little leery to jump back in and trade up to a more expensive irrigator but needed more than the neti pots offer. I immediately noticed how professional looking the SinuPulse is. It seemed more like a medical product and well packaged. The two different pulsating rinse settings really separate it from just your ordinary water pik like irrigator. I like to use the pulsating rinse tip for the most part but use the pulsing atomizer to moisturize or with some of the holistic rinses I like to use. The SinuPulse has a larger water basin so you can irrigate longer. It takes less time than the older one, about a minute to move about 20 ounces of saline and comes with a month supply of saline not just a few salt packets like the old one. Given my past experience I especially liked that the Sinupulse comes with an additional year warranty beyond the standard one year warranty for a two year protection period. The SinuPulse is not without a few areas of improvement but they really are very minor and more of a personal preference.

For my money and experience the SinuPulse is more versatile, has more features, and offers a better warranty than the other products. You really can't go wrong and the customer support is first rate.
Feels great, really clears out the sinuses and very comfortable to use

This is my second sinus irrigation product which I have purchased from Health Solutions. My first one the Grossan was the only one they were selling at the time. Worked well but stopped working after about 15 months and I just didn't have the money to risk on a second. I used the neti pots and the cheaper units for a while after that but they just didn't do the trick. When I heard they came out with the new SinuPulse I decided to buy it. I cant tell you enough how satisfied I am with the new Sinupulse. It not only works faster and takes less time but has this new pulsating mist spray tip for moisturizing the sinuses. I like the larger water tank that can hold enough water to irrigate both of my nostrils and it takes up less space on my sink. I used to suffer from horrible sinus pain every time I would catch a cold and get a sinus infection. The pain would radiate to my eyes and my head and cause huge discomfort. The SinuPulse gets me the relief I need and couldn't get with the neti pot. My colds don't last as long and my sinus problems are at a minimum. This product is so safe that my 7 year old daughter who is also suffering from seasonal allergies is using it!

With money hard to come by I like that the new irrigator is guaranteed for two years and I can tell you after dealing with this company for several years asking for advice, getting information on irrigation techniques, and buying their saline products they are one of the good guys and will be there if you need them.
The Sinupulse really is leap years ahead of the others - a terrific product

Love the quick delivery by Amazon. I have been using the SinuPulse with great success for a few months and went ahead and ordered a second device for travel purposes and had it delivered at no cost in just a few days. The Sinupulse is a great product for anyone suffering from allergy and sinus problems. When you are suffering you need relief and want quick delivery and Amazon does just that. Make sure its in stock as they sell out real quickly. The Sinupulse is very durable and holds up over time. You wont have to replace it every year or in some cases 6 months like some of the other water pik type irrigators that folks have reported trouble with. It comes with a two year warranty.

    Reviewer: J. Parker,
I have had severe congestion for at least 10 years. I have tried 4-5 different prescription nasal sprays, as well as all of the allergy medicines (allegra, zyrtec, etc). None really did anything. It was affecting my sleeping too, because I just cant breathe at night. So I got the SinuPulse a few weeks ago because I was rather desperate.

This thing has helped. A lot. I can actually breathe through my nose, and I don't have any painful sinus pressure. I stopped using it for 2 days while out of town, and went back to my old terrible congestion. It made me realize that a) this thing really works and b) I will probably be stuck using it for the rest of my life. But, I would rather be stuck using water than chemicals.

I use it twice a day (morning and night). So far I am still using the packets that it came with, I havent tried others yet.

I will give a warning though... it isnt the most comfortable thing. It is actually slightly painful pushing the water through your nose/sinuses, but it is well worth it. It is pretty fast, so the discomfort doesnt last long.

If you are a chronic allergy sufferer, I cant recommend this enough.

    Better than expected

Having had sinus problems for many years, with no help using any medications, I decided to try the sunupulse sinus irrigator after reading about it in a sinus cure book by Dr Josephson. I had been using a neti pot with not great results. For the first time in years, I have blown my nose. Up until now, sinus inflamation caused everything to get thick and trapped in my sinuses.
I used the system 2 times a day for the first 2 weeks, and am down to about 5 times a week once a day. It has made a big difference in how I feel in general. I would definitely recommend this to anyone who suffers with sinus problems related to allergies or infections.SinuPulse Elite Advanced Nasal Sinus Irrigation System

The SinuPulse has changed my life. I have not had a Sinus headache since I started using it. I use it every morning and night religiously. I find it very easy to use and comfortable. I have had it for a couple of months and it works great so far. I would highly recommend the SinuPulse to all who have any sinus issues.

I saw a reporter talk about the SinuPulse on Good Morning America and decided to get one. Not sure what to expect I have to say it has exceeded my expectations. Its much easier to use than I thought and makes irrigation a breeze. I never liked the feeling of the tea pots as it always seemed like I was drowning and most the solution would run down my arm. With the Sinupulse I just lean over the sink turn it on and after about a minute I am done. You don't feel like you're drowning the solution easily goes in one nostril and out the other with no mess and really clears everything out. The size of the water tank holds a lot of solution about three cups so you can irrigate as long or little as you want and you can control the flow the entire time you are rinsing with the push button on the handle. Since using it I feel much better more clear headed without that morning stuffiness. It has really helped with the annoying post nasal drip in the back of my throat too. I have recommended it to many others and would to anyone who has sinus problems.

If you're on the fence about nasal washing or irrigating don't be it really helps. More doctors should tell their patients but I guess there is no money in that. I don't think anyone thinks about it as their first option but it should be. Most my doctor visits and meds have been a waste and a lot of expense. I first started rinsing with a neti pot but when I would irrigate with my head to the side and this teapot thing up to my nose trying to make sure the water would go up one nostril and out the other without spilling everywhere I would think is this really the best someone could come up with? If the idea of a nasal rinsing seems strange or uncomfortable the SinuPulse makes it really easy. I didn't know what to expect but was surprised at not only how easy it is to use but how quick it is. It has become part of my daily routine. I am able to breathe clearly and it has really helped relieve the congestion and pressure. I prefer to mix my own saline it saves money but for convenience the packets are great too so I try and keep a box around when I don't have the time. Since using the Sinupulse I have not had my usual winter colds or infections, its a big improvement over other methods. If you suffer with allergies or sinus trouble or just want to breathe better try the sinupulse it really does make irrigating very easy and works wonders.

Have been using the Sinupulse for the past 6 months it is a great alternative to those drowsy drugs and nasal sprays that give little relief and never seem to make the problems go away. Neti pots help but the relief is not very long and you have to use often like a nasal spray. Considering the $$$'s spent on doctor visits and drugs the Sinupulse is a bargain the results make it priceless. Irrigating makes a lot of sense when you consider the pollutants we breathe every day and the infections we are exposed to. The company is very responsive to questions and the SinuAir packets that come with it are great but you can also mix your own which makes it very inexpensive.

The SinuPulse works great. You don't have the drowning sensation you get with the store bought tea pots or the mess and it really clears the sinuses. With the tea pots you have to work so hard to irrigate and get it just right and they only hold about 6- 8 oz of solution which never seems enough. The Sinupulse holds 3-4 times as much, is quick, and makes irrigating a breeze. The pulsating rinse is soothing but really seems to get where you want it too and you can adjust it but the highest setting works best. If you have questions call the company and ask to speak to a product specialist they will answer all your questions and give great product support. They will even send you extra sinus tips if you ask for them. High marks all the way around.

Regarding the unit, it works wonderfully and my sinuses feel so much better than using a neti pot -- probably because the unit puts more water through my nose than I had patience with the manual neti pot process. Also, because it's less messy, I tend to use it more often. My neti pot didn't make a tight seal and water seemed to get everywhere. Regarding all the comments about the cost of the unit, I was thrilled to find that the SinuPulse was covered by my flexible spending account so that helped alot.

Having said that, please be careful when reseating the purple reservoir tank. the bottom breaks extremely easily and the unit just doesn't function once this part breaks. I've contacted customer service to see what they can do (I've only had it 3 months). I really hope we can come up with a workable solution (pun intended!) because I've seen wonderful results using this unit.

    UPDATE:
6/3/10 - what a wonderful company. a gentleman contacted me and said that they have recently upgraded the plastic used to create the reservoir and they are sending me a new tank at no charge. We were also talking about the price of the unit and he said many insurance companies will pay for 50% of the product under a "durable medical provision". I haven't tried that yet, but will definitely check that out. Now that's what I call customer service!

About 1 month ago, my allergies had reached an all-time bad. It was the worst I had experienced with nasal drainage, scratchy eyes, sniffles, popping ears, etc since I moved to So-Cal 5 years ago. After waking up in the middle of the night from wheezing from all the drainage, the next morning I sent an email to a gentleman/scholar who I often refer to as "mr. wisdom". because he has either seen it or probably have experienced it. I asked him what might he recommend for my allergy/nasal related issues, that wasn't some new allergy medicine I could buy at the local drug store(because I dont trust any of that stuff...even the "doctor recommended" stuff....I think it's all bad for you). By coincidence he started to tell me about how terrible his allergies once were that he had to have surgery and in the midst of it all his doctor told him to purchase this pick like thing that works as an irrigation systems for your nostril. Well as soon as he started to explain what it was, I went to my office to search further ....and I was lead to Amazon.com for the SinuPulse System. I couldn't get my credit card out fast enough to make the purchase. And because I just wanted the suffering to just end, I expedited the order for next day...as it was thursday and there was no way i was going into another weekend with popping ears. Saturday morning my packaged arrived. I read all the directions....and within the next 24 hours ...drainage was no longer an issue. I could breathe again....and no more popping ears. Not only that....no side effects. I wasn't aware that the system came with saline packets.....so I'd purchased some extras anyways. Between the irrigation system and bee pollen consumption with my fruit-cocktail in the morning....I'm officially summer allergy-free. I thank Dr. Wisdom and Amazon....as Amazon had it for the cheapest!!
I Highly recommend this product as I have for sinus sufferers in my family.

I was a bit skeptical about nasal irrigation ( it doesn't seem popular in the USA ) but this device works pretty well. It is somewhat noisy, but other than that, it pushes the solution through the sinus like its supposed to. I was surprised though that it isn't a very powerful jet - its just strong enough to move the solution through. You get the initial sensation of having inhaled water in a pool, but without the chlorine burning. Just keep your mouth open, lean over the sink and drip away. I have a crooked septum, which this thing won't fix, but at least I can clean my sinus and reduce the chance of infection now.

I've had allergies now for now over 10 years. I've tried a variety of different solutions that involved medications and two nasal surgeries. The best results until I discovered SinuPulse was using a passive bottle sinus rinse that did not work very well.

With the SinuPulse, I have been astounded by the amount of material that would remain in my nose otherwise. Of course, this isn't a cure for allergies, but with me, it has shown amazing results in my sensitivity to allergens and I have had no more sinus infections.

I would recommend using the strongest setting you can handle and of course use the SinuAir packets. I would recommend using more than one pack, and the more the better, since salt will help to dry out the nose and help the nose to clear out the allergens. If you have a dry nose or problems with tongue cleaning, the attachments are easy to use and work great.
Great for clearing sinuses and keeps you healthy

Nasal washing makes so much sense, we all know how important it is to wash our hands why not the nose but there were so many reasons to just pass it off as not for me, too messy, painful, or just too weird. The Sinupulse was on one of the morning TV shows as a way to fight off the flu and infections and it looked like something that would be easy to use. It really helps clear out your nasal passages almost immediately. Its gross but it makes so much sense to get rid of all that mucous and bacteria. You can actually feel the pulsing rinse when you turn it up high and it works quick. You can mix your own saline to save money but the packets are convenient. Using the sinupulse makes a big difference.

My wife and I both love the SinuPulse. My wife (on the advice of her doctor) had previously used both a squeeze bottle and a Neti pot. I found both of those methods of sinus irrigation to be uncomfortable at best. So I was delighted to use the Sinupulse Elite and to discover not only immediate relief for my sinuses - but also that I find use of the unit to be actually soothing...not uncomfortable in any way.

I know that long-term sinus health depends on regular use of the product, and that's just what I'll be doing. The SinuAir pre-packaged product is fantastic, BTW.

On a personal note, I'm a heart patient (arrhythmia) and can NOT take ANY decongestant product whatsoever (past 25+ years and counting). Serious sinus flare-ups and even common colds send me to bed for, sometimes, literally weeks. Vexing beyond belief (I'm only 52). So I cannot adequately express my joy in discovering something that gives me sinus relief...finally. I can breathe easier, my nasal passages and ears have less of that clogged-up feeling, and even my sense of smell is keener. Wonderful! And that's just with a few weeks use.

I'm a believer in nasal washing but there are so many products out there now its easy to get confused but the pulsating machines are by far the best way to clean out your nose and get out all the junk. The pots don't even come close but for being cheap they are OK. I have used the water pik and grossan previously and like the SinuPulse best. The water pik and grossan are basically the same where the Sinupulse is more professional and takes nasal irrigation from the dark ages to a higher level. I think its great that it can be used as pulsating spray or rinse which gives me more flexibility on how I use it. I can control the pressure right at the handle as I irrigate and not have to lean over and play with the machine while saline is going up my nose. The larger tank means I can irrigate longer. The storage area for the long cord behind the wall bracket accessory is great if you are like me and don't like cords all over the place. Really great product keeps my allergies in check.

I have bad allergies and sinus problems since childhood and use a CPAP machine at night which really dries out my nose. I started irrigating years ago with a nasal wash bottle. I decided to get the SinuPulse after seeing it recommended on Dr. Ivkers Sinus Survival site. I am impressed at how quickly it works and clear I feel after using it. It is very easy to set-up and use. I mix the saline rinse in the water tank, lean over the sink, put the sinus tip up against my nostril, and turn it on the machine does the rest. The pulsating rinse is gentle but cleansing. The large water tank holds around 25 -30 oz of saline much more than a neti pot or nasal wash bottle so I can irrigate longer without interruption. The push button on the handle makes adjusting the water flow really easy and can be done with one hand. I use it 2X daily morning and night and have seen a dramatic improvement in my sinus problems. I sleep better and don't wake up feeling stuffed up. Great customer service. They were really helpful and seemed to understand the importance of satisfied customers and the investment folks are making in their product and I respect that. Excellent product very pleased.

I am really pleased with my SinuPulse. It's been great for my allergy symptoms and sinus congestion. I was impressed at just how easy it is to use and how good it feels. I wanted something that was better at clearing out my sinuses than the rinse bottle which I found hard to use. I looked at the pulsating irrigators and liked that the SinuPulse could be used as either a spray or stream which appealed to me and made it seem very professional and more than just you're run of the mill water pik. If any of you have used the neti pots or Sinus Rinse bottle you kind of feel like drowning until you get the hang of it and they can be messy. With the SinuPulse it's super easy the device propels the saline gently through your nasal passages and sinuses and really clears things out. You control the flow and pressure with just a touch of the button and it only takes a minute or so to flush your sinuses from start to finish with no mess. You just keep your mouth open I put my tongue up to the roof of my mouth and I barely notice the saline going up one side and out the other. It's amazing how much crud is up there and drains out. I feel so much better after using it , my nose is clear, and I don't have the annoying little itch or drip in the back of my throat. If I feel something coming on I mix a little xylitol with my saline and use the pulsating spray after I irrigate with the pulsating rinse and it knocks out whatever is brewing. It seems gentler while reaching areas the bottle or neti pot doesn't. Great product.
    Great buy and effective irrigator

I have never written a review in my life, so this being my first I ask of you to please bear with me. I have suffered from several bouts of acute sinusitis per year for around 6 or so years. Last year alone a took approximately 10 to 12 rounds of amoxicillin to treat the infections. I have been using a neti pot for a couple of years, which has been helpful, but I knew I needed to do more about the sinusitis because I was still suffering from the infections on a frequent basis. I read the book "Sinus Survival" by Dr. Ivker and it really opened my eyes to the world of sinus care and sinusitis. On his website he really promoted the sinupulse elite and I read several of the reviews here on Amazon about it which convinced me to give it a try. I'll be honest, I purchased it out of desperation because at this point I am willing to try anything and everything to at least limit the amount of infections I develop.

Thus far I have been using the Sinupulse for just over a month and already I have found it to be very effective and efficient. My sinuses feel much cleaner when I use this product than when I use a netipot and it is much easier to use than a netipot. It is a little noisy, but for me this is not a problem. I have been using regular tap water and there is little mess or clean up required after using it. I purchased this product knowing that it would not be the "cure all" to my sinusitis, but I did hope to find something that would help me with the prevention and treatment of sinusitis. So far I have found that this has been helpful and effective at preventing at least one infection, as I came down with the flu 2 weeks ago with some congestion and for the first time in years I did not get an infection afterward! I don't give 100% of the credit to the sinupulse for preventing the infection, but I feel it helped. I have been please with this purchase and I recommend it for anyone dealing with allergies and reoccurring sinusitis issues.

If you have a bacterial sinus infection and either can't afford or don't want to take anti-biotics for it, this device can cure it. It is more than a fancy-looking Neti pot. For me, Neti pots only treated the symptoms. Some people who have had sinus surgery never got better until they've used a good sinus irrigation system like the SinuPulse. Something else you should know: after I got mine, I broke part of the plastic blue door that fits in the unit's white lid. I called customer service to ask for a replacement piece, and I received it less than a week later, free of charge!

If your sinus infection is not bacterial, but from systemic yeast--which is caused by anti-biotics, among other things--the Sinupulse is good to use in conjunction with an anti-fungal diet. It won't get to the root of the problem, but it will make your nose feel less stuffed up, and possibly prevent a secondary bacterial infection from forming.
Great product, great service, great results

I cant say enough good things about the SinuPulse. It does what it says and for my money thats what I expect.

Doctors need to stop pushing drugs and nasal sprays that just keep us coming back enriching their pockets and prolong our suffering. When will they start telling us that products like the SinuPulse are available. I know its not cheap but when you consider the cost and inconvenience of trips to the doctors office and the fact that very little they give us works anyway it's a big bargain in my book. It's corny but true when it comes to your health don't settle for less and don't put all your faith in doctors.

Just a few minutes every day or two with this thing can really change the quality of your life. If you are out there suffering with bad allergies and sinus problems I recommend getting one of these it can make a huge difference especially if you are dealing with sinus infections and sinus headaches. Its dependable, quick and easy to use with no mess, and most important does what it says.
Great product with terrific results, very pleased

Suffering with allergy and sinus symptoms for years the SinuPulse was recommended to me to help prevent sinus infections and to help my chronic thick post nasal drip. I have used a neti pot and a sinus rinsing bottle which were OK but nothing helped long term. I also did not like that your head had to be tilted in uncomfortable positions for the saline to enter and did not like the feeling of not being able to control the flow of solution. They did make me feel better but only for the moment. Since using the SinuPulse not only do I feel better than I have in a long time but I find that my symptoms for the first time are actually under control. I especially found it useful for the post nasal drip the improvement was dramatic. I like that you can regulate the flow of saline from the handle with the push button it's not just an on off button. We now have several family members using the device. I also like that while filtered or distilled water is recommended you can use regular tap water and any saline product with the SinuPulse which is especially nice and saves money. I am down to only having to use it a few times a week. I finally feel like I have some control again. Great product I really would recommend it to anyone who suffers with sinus problems.

The SinuPulse is way better than I had hoped. After trying so many different run of the mill sinus relief products I was willing to try anything and was looking for something different. I had not yet tried nasal irrigation but know I wanted to get the best. Nasal irrigation is a bit goofy and may not be for everybody but if you're tired of suffering and are open to it run don't walk and get one of these. I've never felt better and its really quite simple.

The Sinupulse really helps control allergy and sinus problems. While it is not cheap, I believe it is the best irrigator out there for the price and performance. No question, pulsating irrigation is way better than the neti pots for cleaning out the nose and sinuses it really helps to clear things out and you dont feel like your drowning. The pulsating flow leverages the rinse action without the need to pour or squeezing lots of water up your nose while holding your head practically upside down or in some other ridiculous position. It is very easy to use and makes irrigating a piece of cake. All you have to do is lean over the sink the machine does the rest. No mess, no crazy positions, and leaves you feeling great. Its also a nice looking unit and has proven to be very durable for daily use.

Used every few days, it's excellent preventative medicine with zero side effects. After working outside where you are exposed to many types of pollen and mold, using this can prevent a sinus infection from developing.

There is nothing that sounds nice about rinsing out your nose but the using the Sinupulse makes it easy to do and the relief you get is fantastic. You can feel the pulsing rinse cleaning everything out without feeling drowned. You can control the flow to your liking making the whole process very comfortable. The directions that come with it are simple enough and helpful. The size if it is smaller than I thought but has a large water reservoir making it very practical and allows you to rinse three times longer than a neti pot. I liked the product video on the Amazon page showing how the Sinupulse works you can turn up the sound and see and hear it in action. It's a really great tool that can make a big difference in your health.

For over 10 years, the first thing I did after waking up was take a 24 hour Claritin D allergy medicine tablet and use the prescribed nasal sprays to help with my allergies. Then I would continue to blow my nose until the decongestant finally stopped the runny nose.

My neighbor at work got tired of hearing my constant nose blowing and suggested that I try the SinuPulse. I was skeptical, but desperate for relief so I bought one and am pleased to say that I have been 100% medication free for the past 6 months. It pays for itself in just a short amount fo time.

Great unit looking to buy a second one for a suffering relative. I was a little hesitant to buy another irrigator because I had one from another company one which worked fine but the quality was not good at all and it started to leak and loose pressure really quick and lasted slightly more than a year. It was like a timer went off after 12 months and boom it died. I have been using the SinuPulse for more than a year and it has been problem free and absolutely a god send for keeping my allergies and sinus problems in check. Product support from the company is good too. I recommend it much better than the cheaper methods I have tried.

If you are reading this. You must suffer like many of us with sinus problems. I was tired of the same old drugs and nasal sprays that provided little or no relief and fed up. Looking for an alternative I had read about nasal irrigation and the neti pots but I just felt they were really kind of primitive. The Sinupulse Elite is more money for sure but seemed to me to be a real upgrade to the idea of squirting or pouring salt water in my nose. Once you use the Sinupulse you can see how the pulsating saline rinse would be more effective and reach areas that those other methods can't. It really cleans everything out and feels good afterwards, you can breath better and the allergy and sinus symptoms are so much better. The Sinupulse gives you full control over the pressure and flow and is really very easy and quick to use. The doctors need to tell us about these types of things but they wont because they just want us to keep coming back and buying expensive drugs. This may not be for everyone but it really makes a difference.

I have been a sinus/allergy sufferer all my life and have been on the verge of a sinus operation several times, the only thing that stopped me was my inability to find one person who, after undergoing the procedure, and I include both the new laser variety as well as the older surgery, was able to claim permanent relief. One person I spoke with had the laser surgery 4 times and several others were, after a few months, actually worse. I have tried all the traditional as well as Homeopathic remedies with varying degrees of relief. When the original sinus irrigator came on the market, I immediately purchased one and. after 3 weeks of twice daily treatments, finally achieved long lasting relief-without meducation! The unit, however, was not very well designed, and needed continual maintenance and repair after 7-8 months of use. When the Sinu-Pulse came on the market I immediately replaced the old unit with the Sinu Pulse and can attest to the fact that it works better and has been repair free for a year now. Additionally, the folks who designed and marketed the units are readily accesible, extremely knowledgeable and helpful, and are constantly researching ways to improve the product. I can't recommend this ubit highly enough. You can't go wrong with one!

I wasn't sure what to expect from the whole nasal irrigation thing its pretty weird and not something you normally think about unless you are really suffering with bad sinuses, and if you are, the Sinupulse really helps. Great for stuffiness, allergies, and those painful sinus infections and headaches. I find it works best when used preventatively for allergies to keep things in check. But for colds and sinus infections boy the relief is pretty dramatic and gets a lot of junk out. There seems to be a lot of different things out there for irrigating but if your looking for something higher end and more than just a nasal wash bottle the Sinupulse is a great choice with some good bells and whistles. The tank is clear and you can see the solution and how much is left. Its also good for seeing if salt is building up reminding you to clean out the unit. The tank is larger so you don't have to refill and can irrigate both sides with one tank. You don't have to reach down to change the pressure you can just push the button on the handle to adjust which is really convenient. The two pulsating modes is a nice feature that you cant get with just a water pik type product. I liked that they support the irrigator for an additional year beyond the standard 1 year warranty. With money tight a 2 year protection is important especially when you read about some of these other water pik type irrigators that fail after a year or even 6 months. Their customer service is excellent. You may need to leave a message but they really seem concerned with each and every customer and that impressed me a great deal and is almost impossible to find these days.
Amazing results, easy to use, and delivers lasting relief not just for the moment. Best way to irrigate.

I have been suffering for years with painful sinus and allergy problems including frequent sinus infections. After years of nasal sprays and doctor visits I decided to give nasal irrigation a try. I looked at all the different nasal irrigation products including the neti pots. I have heard they work OK so I looked at several Youtube videos showing their use along with the nasal wash bottles and they all looked rather silly, at least to me. I could not see paying twenty dollars for a plastic watering pot. I wanted something a little more sophisticated that could help with the cause of my problems and not simply the symptoms considering how long I have dealt with the issue. I read several medical reports outlining the benefits of pulsating irrigation over other methods. It made sense to me that the pulsing action would have a greater cleansing effect than a regular irrigation.

After deciding to go with a pulsating irrigator I looked at the various options and decided to go with the SinuPulse for a several reasons. Including it has a smaller design I don't like things that are too tall on my bathroom counter. I liked the dual spray rinse operation and guaranteed warranty. I have read that these irrigators can leak due to the saltwater use and stop working so durability was important as well as the company's reputation for standing behind their products.

It's been several months now and I am thrilled with the product. It was a little weird at first since I have never irrigated but less weird than some of the You Tube videos I see with the neti pots. It really is easy to use. You fill up the water tank with water (I use regular tap water just fine). Mix in 1 tsp. of salt and lean over the sink looking down into the drain. Place the irrigator tip up to your nose the machine does the rest and switch sides. It takes only a minute or two to use rinse it out and you're done. Since using it I have felt better than I have in years. I sleep much better and don't wake up with the constant congestion. I wouldn't say it is a miracle but its better than anything else I have tried and it has already paid for itself by cutting down on meds and visits to the doctor. I highly recommend it.
    Easy to use.

Must easier to use than a neti pot. Use clear water to wash your throat and mouth afterward.

After struggling for a month with a sinus infection, I decided that my bulb suringe was not doing much, NetiPot was too low tech, and bought the SinuPulse. The first use was rough, ewww, something is pumping water up my nose, and it is going everywhere. After a few days of practice, I was able to mostly clear up my nose. It felt good, better than any other nose cleaner with the exception of a long run. The technique that worked best for me is modified standard: pump water into one nostril, let it come out of the other, and blow slightly in and out while doing this to clear up the deeper passages.

One disappointment was slightly shoddy design. The speed knob is impossible to turn with a wet hand, and your hands are always wet when doing this. The water tank leaks a bit when transfering from faucet to the device. For twice the price of my Vicks Ultrasonic Humidifier, I expected much better design. I wish I took a look at Grossan Hydro Pulse® before buying this, it has a lot more honest looking reviews.

Did it cure my sinus infection? No, for that I am currently on antibiotics, it is a stubborn one. But my nose does feel a lot cleaner.

UPDATE: after using SinuPulse for 6 weeks more, my sinus infection is finally gone. I did it religiously, several times a day, multiple tanks per rinse. Now I just have a slightly stuff nose, hoping it disappears in a few weeks. I am also using plain salt, one teaspoon per tank works great, just make sure it disolves completely. The only reason to stop me from fully recommending this product is that someone is gaming these reviews. 1 day after this was posted, I got 4 thumbs down. And the rest of the reviews here look like a marketing job.

FINAL UPDATE: while travelling, I broke SinuPulse, and bought Grossan instead. I like Grossan a lot better. It is quieter, sturdier, and has better low-speed pulse control. In the manual, Dr. Grossan explains the importance of irrigating gently. I've spent months pushing snots up my sinuses with SinuPulse on high-speed. If SinuPulse is making a knockoff, they should price it at 69, not 99.

My sinuses are as clear as they've ever been. I don't know is it because of couple of weeks of using Grossan, or is it because I quit smoking. It took four months, and it feels good to breathe clearly. Well, almost clearly, but I'll take it :)

I suffer from chronic sinuses and allergies. I've used the classic neti-pot for several years, but I had to use it in the shower because water would drip everywhere. I found it hard to get in the habit of using the neti-pot on a regular basis. So i decided to buy the SinuPulse Irrigation System. Luckily, I was able to get it to fit in my medicine cabinet, so it's not taking up space by the sink. I've been using the SinuPulse for about a month now, and so far I'm liking it. It's much easier to use than a neti-pot. The water pressure is adjustable, which is great. You can choose a mist or a stream. Not sure if this product will hold up in the long run, but it's working now, so I'm happy!

I have seasonal allergies and a tendency to develop sinus infections, so on a doctor's recommendation I have for years used nasal irrigation to reduce allergy symptoms, get over colds faster, and eliminate sinus infections (I've never had one since).

Unfortunately, I never took the time to look for alternatives to what the doctor recommended, which was the use of a baby nasal syringe to squirt saline solution up into my sinuses. What a mess! I did it that way for years, but until now I never knew how much easier and faster it could be.

First I tried a neti pot, and I found that to be much faster and easier than what I had been doing, but not as effective.

Then I bought the SinuPulse Elite; and boy, what a difference! It works faster and far more effectively than either of the other methods I have tried.

Note that I have not tried the Grossan Hydro Pulse irrigation system (similar to SinuPulse) or NeilMed Sinus Rinse (bottle approach, much less expensive), so I can't compare them to the SinuPulse Elite. But based on my experience and what I have read, I believe that either the SinuPulse Elite or the Hydro Pulse irrigators are more effective that neti pots or NeilMed Sinus Rinse bottles. Although the irrigators are expensive, I believe they are worth it.

    Pros:
    - Works great, far more effectively than other methods I have tried.

Cons (minor flaws, but the reason for a 4 and not a 5):
    - Expensive.
    - Power switch feels cheap and unreliable, sometimes hangs and requires a second push.
    - Very noisy, hard to use when others are asleep.
    - Takes up counter space, doesn't "pack" well for putting away.
Gets the job done - simple and effective

This is a simple gadget that is effective at irrigating your sinuses. It works well enough but could be better designed, which is why I gave it 4 stars rather than 5. In essence this is an adjustable-pressure pump with a reservoir tank, hose, and assorted fittings - just like a Waterpik. You prepare the water & saline solution recipe of your choice, fill the reservoir tank, choose the wand attachment you prefer, select your desired pressure setting, turn it on, and apply the business end to your nose. Anyone who has used a Neti pot will be familiar with the sensation of washing your sinuses, but this allows you to stand at the sink more naturally and can (depending on the setting) provide a more vigorous wash. One of the small problems (mentioned by others here) is that the pressure adjustment knob is rather difficult to turn, and this is made worse when your hands are wet. However, once you have used it a few times and have decided on the settings that work best for you, it isn't much of a problem.

I like the SinuPulse Elite and use it every day. I feel it has improved my life and helped to significantly reduce my sinus problems. If you want to step-up from a Neti pot, this is a good choice. Having said that, it is probably fair to say that there are other solutions that may be as effective and are cheaper, like an ear-wash bulb put to this use. Take your pick, but I do like and recommend the SinuPulse Elite.
Pricey product - but I use it!

I questioned the need for a product this expensive when a bulb syringe or the NeilMed Sinus Rinse bottle cost only a tiny fraction of the price. But I had a lot of Flexible Spending Account money about to go to waste, so why not? I found that the expense of the product actually made me feel guilty when I didn't use it regularly, so I finally got into the habit - and I can definitely tell the difference when I don't rinse 2x a day! The bulb syringe was an absolute mess, and I had to refill the Sinus Rinse bottle to get a rinse that felt adequate, especially as there is a lot of unusable solution left in the bottle every time. With the SinuPulse, I fill the tank once, and get what actually feels like a good rinse on both sides in about a minute.

It's not perfect by a long shot, though: the tank is designed poorly, and won't empty fully; the small flap/window on the lid is flimsy and the hinges broke very quickly, making it basically useless; the power button is unresponsive and requires me to press far too firmly to turn the machine on and off; and the system does take up a lot of counter space.

But all in all, I am happy with my purchase. The frequency of my sinus infections has decreased, and I feel much less stuffed up when I use the system daily. I am still stunned by the price, and think it is unreasonably high (which is why I only bought it when I was about to lose that money anyway!), but compared to the lost time at work from sinus infections I am now avoiding or short-circuiting, I suppose it's worth it.

Neti pots are great, and I'd strongly urge anyone with sinus problems to try one out before plunking down a huge wad of cash on one of these things, but if your congestion is often too severe to allow gravity to pull the water through normally, this gizmo's pretty cool.

How quickly the tank empties is largely a function of how high you crank the pressure, but 2 cups should be more than enough for one treatment. I had no problems with leakage, and the knob was easy enough to turn, wet hands or no.

The "misting" tips are more or less worthless--they sputter more than they mist, and if mist is all you need, you can pick up a bottle of Ocean saline spray at any drug store cheaply enough. Other than that, I'm pretty happy with my purchase.

This nasal irrigation machine was something I did not look forward to using, after dealing with the squeeze bottle system and giving it up. It is easier to use, and the packets of salts are gentler than the other brand. The salt solution just goes in one nostril and out the other without making you gag. My husband says my snoring is reduced to a normal volume. (!) However, it is noisy and the thin construction of it makes me wonder how long it will last.
It does what it says it does.

I have been using this unit for about a month. Construction appears to be economical, at best. But, it is working fine. It is very loud. I imagine this is much easier than a neti pot. Just watch the temperature of the water and if you start making your own saline solution, your nose will tell you the right amount of salt to use. I'm using a teaspoon of salt for 16 ounces of water.

It has definitely helped with my congestion, but it has not been a miracle worker. However, I would make the purchase again.

Read the instructions before using. The plastic tray is somwhat flimsly. The first time I used the unit the plastic insert in the lid malfunctioned and I can't get it back on. Fortunately, it does not affect operation of the unit.

I have the same symptoms as most others who have bought this product and have tried several other treatment methods before seeing this. For me, the neti pot was too much hassle what with twisting my head and dripping one way and then the other. My doctor gave me a NeilMed bottle which was more convenient and helped my allergies. Then I saw an advertisement for a different kind of electric nasal irrigation system and after some research, I bought this one instead, not having known that electric pump models existed.

    Pros:
I like the pulsing over the simple steady squeezing or dripping of the two manual methods I've tried. I like that the container holds twice the amount of solution as the NeilMed and thus rinses each side twice as much. In this record-breaking allergy season it has helped me very much. I haven't tried the misting tip or other accessories yet, just the cleansing irrigation tip.

    Cons:
It's VERY noisy, even though the box says "Quiet Design." Maybe the design is quiet, but the operation certainly is not. The body is also not as compact as I would like and the hose to the tip sprawls all over my limited counter space and is unsightly. I would prefer a design that is higher rather than wider. Why does the water compartment include a step? Looks funny. Why not design it so that the dial on the bottom right is placed on the top left to result in a single water container on the right? Maybe those Swiss had their reasons. And if engineers can make telephone cords with tighter coils, maybe they could use that technology on the hose to the tip as well. Or some kind of retractable cord or one that winds around the unit in an attractive way when not in use.

I saw somewhere online a recipe for the sodium solution that was basically three parts non-iodized table salt (not sea salt) to one part baking soda and I've been using that with good effect.

Overall, I'm glad I bought it but can't give it five stars because of the noise and design.
Great Solution for day-day Sinus problems

Hi, I brought this unit for myself and later on brought another unit and gifted it to my uncle who had severe sinus problems like me. Initially, I had lot of doubts but after using it continuously for 4-5 days I could feel the difference in my nasal passages. Though the technology is borrowed from ancient Indian technique called "Jala Neti", Now in US it is called Neti Pot. The Sinu pulse unit is very easy to use and maintain but the downside is that the saline replacement will cost a fortune. $16+ for just 30 packets of saline(salt) which I think is way too over priced and a rip off.

I would recommend to anyone who has sinus problems to use this product.

    Thanks
Good but on/off sw needs rework and it is noisy!

It works well at pumping water inside your nose. But it is noisy and the on/off button just doesn't work well. Push, push, push and if you're lucky it turns off. Somehow I never have a problem turning it on. The knob is hard (or impossible) to turn with your hands wet but I just adjusted it when I started using the device. I've been using it for over a year now (I decided to write this review because I got really annoyed with the on/off button). For $99 is too much, I'm glad they lowered the price. I was going to give it 3 stars if it was still at $99.
I've had sinus problems since I was a kid (I'm 40 now). It helps prevent the post-drip which makes my tonsils get infected... but it is slow, be patient, I'm talking several weeks, and be regular. How long and how much depends on your particular situation. I'm not a doctor. It just took me this long of using it to realize what works for me: Once a day, two tanks of water (that's 4 cups with 1 tsp of salt). If I use more salt my eyes get dry. I hope that helps. Take care.
    It works!

This unit is easy to use and effective for me. It's basically a water-pik type device with a different nozzle, but it gently cleans and irrigates the nose and sinuses. It's a little weird getting used to having fluid flowing in one nostril and out the other, but I have chronic allergies and it's worth it.

This is the second one I've bought and the reason I only give 4 stars is because the on off button broke on the first one after only a few months. Other than that I cannot live without this sinus irrigator and you simply must witness the UNBELIEVABLE stuff that comes out of your head when you use it while you have a cold to understand why you HAVE TO IRRIGATE!!

They say that you should wash your hands like a surgeon when you return from public places and I believe the same for your sinuses --- irrigate so you can rinse out potential viruses and irritants/allergens. It feels SO GOOD TOO!! Neti pots do not hold a candle to this machine.
More Effective Than A Traditional Neti Pot

    Review Date: July 16, 2010
    Reviewer: Joshua Lent,
    PROS:
    (1) Hold about three times the amount of liquid as a traditional Neti.
    (2) You can stand pretty much upright as you use it. It doesn't require as much head tilt as a traditional Neti.

    CONS:
    (1) It's fairly loud. When cleansing in the morning, I often opt for the traditional Neti as not to wake other folks in the house.
    (2) The dial that adjusts the flow rate is a bit hard to grasp and turn. Not a big deal, though.

Overall, it is more effective than a traditional Neti, which is the primary criteria for me.

For doing the job it was designed for, I would give it 5 stars. Because of the annoyances in having to contend with a stiff power cord and the stiff tubing, I would rate the materials chosen for the design only 2 Stars. I don't know why manufacturers ruin what would otherwise be an outstanding product rating by choosing materials that add an annoyance factor to using the device!

    Pros:
It does the job it was designed for. It's easy enough to use. The saline solution provided is better than some I've tried, but I find mixing it at half the recommended concentration is more pleasing to me. I like the option of having both the spray and irrigation tips.

    Cons:
It's kind of cheaply made and the side of plastic tank was warped at bit because of the power cord being crammed into it for shipping. As a result, the lid does not fit well on it now. Two complaints I have on the ease of use are: (1) The power cord is much too stiff and (2) the plastic tubing that connects the tips to the base unit is very stiff plastic and it has a mind of it's own.

After a lifetime of allergy and post-nasal drip problems, using everything the physician specialists recommended, it is my opinion that the plain large ear bulb sold in pharmacies is the best thing to use for sinus irrigation.

I bought this SinuPulse Elite hoping that it would work better than the bulb. It does allow one to get 16 oz. of saline solution through the nasal cavities faster. It is messy, but so is the bulb. The pressure is low so I do not think that the solution enters the upper sinus cavities as well as using the bulb. The design is a little flimsy. I have only owned mine and used it for a few weeks so it is still holding up. However, I do not get as long lasting relief from the SinuPulse Elite and their solution as I do creating my own solution and simply using the bulb. My ENT physician gave me the recipe for a buffered saline solution that I could create and use with the bulb. That works and it costs pennies.

after doing A LOT of research to find the right product, I thought this one was it. I actually bought it for my husband who has cronic sinus infections. He prefers to use the $10 plastic netti pot to this. I think a lot of has to do with not being able to use tap water, which means you either have to warm the water or get a blast of cold water up your nose! Plus it is kinda loud and the plastic container for the water hardly stays on, it seems like it need a latch or something to hold it down. I am not going to say it is the worse thing I have tried, I think it does the neccessary job it is intended to do but it is just not eactly what I was hoping for.
Pricey, medium quality unit but will help your sinuses if used daily

This little unit irrigates your sinuses and does a fair job at that; however, I have nothing to compare it to as I have not used the Grossan unit. With that caveat, the SinuPulse will shoot a stream of water up your nose, into your sinuses, and you'll see a stream of water come out of your other nostril. I think if you are going to get a cold, this unit can prevent the cold from getting too bad b/c it will wash out all the gunk in your sinuses that contribute to congestion and mucus creation. I rate it 3 stars because the quality of the plastic reservoir is not up to par for the price you pay. In just 2 weeks' use, the trap door at the top of the reservoir broke a plastic peg that locks it into place. If I am paying over $100 for this unit, I don't expect plastic pieces to be breaking off. The second reason for the 3 star rating is the price; it's fairly cost prohibitive at $97 + shipping + tax, etc.

But if you're suffering from sinusitis, infections, allergies, etc. I would definitely try some type of sinus irrigation machine; they do help a lot. Even better than a simple nasal rinse from a squeeze bottle. I settled on this particular unit b/c there is a warranty, apparently; one which I am going to have to use now that the trap door is missing a plastic leg...all said and done, I paid about $120 for this unit. The Grossan did not have the 1 year warranty (or at least it was not advertised) and so I went with the SinuPulse Elite. If a better quality, cheaper unit existed, I'd have gone for that but after much research, I could not find anything reputable besides the two above mentioned options.

So, if you can afford it, this unit will ease your sinus issues. Think of it as a bath for your nose. Done daily, it will probably prevent severe sinus congestion; but you have to be disciplined about it and use it daily even when you feel up to par!
    Eh, it's okay...

I have had sinus problems for 15 years, now. And in that 15 years, I have tried just about anything and everything that would give me any relief from the constant sinus infections, thick post-nasal drip, and the obnoxious coughing I suffer with on a daily basis. I have had sinus surgery, weekly machine suction of my sinuses, and every homeopathic cure you can think of, nevertheless, NOTHING worked. My Ear, Nose, and Throat doctor always prescribed antibiotics, which were great in the beginning; however, I have built such a resistant to them, I have to search for alternative relief, otherwise, I am afraid that antibiotics will not work when I really need them. Anyways, about 4 years into my sinus condition (11 years ago), I found an article about nasal irrigation, and I immediately went out and bought a nasal bulb syringe (like the kind for babies) and started squirting saline up my nose on a daily basis. I found some relief from the irrigation, and I continued this on a daily basis. But yet I continued getting sinus infections every month, without fail. I still kept with the irrigation, because I felt it assisted with getting a lot of the infection out of my nose (I could actually see the infection go down the drain). I still look for the next best thing when it comes to getting rid of my sinus troubles; hence, enter: SinuPulse Elite® Nasal Irrigator System. When I read about and researched this product, I thought it would be my saving grace. Finally, something that would deliver the saline solution into my nose, at a pressure that would really wash, and get the infection out of my sinuses. I set up the SinuPulse as soon as I received it, and it was easy to set up. I prepared my saline solution, dumped it in the SinuPulse, and started irrigating. I turned the speed all the way up, and hung over the sink. I was immediately disappointed. Not only is the highest speed, extremely weak, I do not find much more relief than I do with my nasal bulb syringe. I have continued with daily use of the SinuPulse, and every time I use it I think, "Eh, it's okay." So the point of this tediously long review is, SAVE YOUR MONEY, and go and buy a $2 nasal bulb syringe to do your irrigating for you.

Great idea... still better than a NetiPot, but poorly executed. On/off switch nearly impossible to operate one-handed (it takes me 5 or 6 tries, by which time my precious saline mixture is gone). The lid for the water reservoir was warped out of the box and never fit properly. The oddly-shaped water reservoir makes it difficult to replace without spilling water everywhere. The "pause" button stopped working within a week.

Use it near a drain!!! There will be water everywhere.

While the SinuPulse Elite Advanced Nasal Sinus Irrigation System is fairly easy to use, I was expecting it to have a little more power. I was surprised that the stream is not stronger than it is. Also, while the tank holds more than a traditional neti pot, it still empties very quickly, so it requires refilling several times during use. My other complaint is that the button on the irrigator wand stops the flow of water instead of allowing the flow...which means one has to have it tightly held down before turning on the machine or water sprays everywhere. Seems a little counter-intuitive.

Thought I'd try this sinus irrigator when it was time to replace my Grossan HydroPulse. It had such glowing reviews. After using it, I wish I had bought another Grossan HydroPulse instead. The electrical cord is a little shorter on this model and it doesn't quite reach the plug in my bathroom - I had to rearrange everything on top of my counter to place it close enough. And although this model is very sleek and modern looking, it takes up more room on the countertop than the Grossan HydroPulse. The style and odd size of the water container is also much more cumbersome than the Grossan HydroPulse and pushing the power button requires two hands, one to push the button and the other to hold the unit in place.
Wish I had had a need to try it during the return period because I would have traded it out for the Grossan HydroPulse. I mean it works but it's just not as convenient to use.

As a chronic sinus sufferer, I've used Neti pots for years. I had wanted to try a pulsing nasal irrigation system for a while but didn't want to invest close to $200. This seemed like a nice alternative.
It does work better than a Neti pot but it's not all that I expected. It's really loud when turned on and I have to turn it on High to get it to produce enough pressure to get up into my sinus cavity. Also, the water reservoir is pretty small. I feel like I'm just getting started and it has already run out of water.
There's also a lot of dripping and dribbling from the irrigation tip while you're using it.
I know that this is a lower end machine ,and for the price it does its job. I wish I had just waited and spent a little more for one of the better machines though.

Since there have been so many positive reviews, I have to think that my unit has a defective pump. The water doesn't pulse as described, it just kind of floats out of the nozzle with very little pressure. Changing the setting makes very little difference. I am returning the unit because it doesn't work as described.
I will also say that the machine was surprisingly noisy, and as other reviewers have mentioned, it's difficult to set up and messy. The measurement gauge printed on the side of the tank is not even close to accurate.

I have been using a neti pot for over a year now. I read the reviews on this product and decided to give it a try. I wasted my money. The pressure is not nearly strong enough to make much difference and the tank empties in about 30 seconds anyway. I got more results out of my neti pot than I did with this device. And to top it all off, I found a cheap and perfect replacement for my neti pot. I bought a sports bottle with a hard plastic straw and I use it with a saline solution or Alkalol solution. You can squeeze the bottle and get as much pressure as you want along with a large amount of solution for the grand old price of about $5. It works wonderfully. So don't make the mistake I did and waste your money on this device.

I recently bought the SinuPulse Elite Advanced Nasal Sinus Irrigation System because I thought that I would get two great products in one machine. The water pressure for the nasal irrigation is fine; however, I find the same water pressure to be extremely low to irrigate out tonsil stones (even when set at the highest level). I had read that this machine would be ideal for that as well. Utilizing this irrigator was extremely messy and the electrical plug in cord is way too short. If I had to choose between a great nasal irrigator (such as this one) and an excellent oral irrigator, I choose the latter.

I was really looking forward to trying this product based upon all the excellent reviews here. My SinuPulse sounded like LOUD fingernails on chalkboard clanging and pulsating. I could not tolerate the noise so it is irrelevant how well it cleaned my sinuses as I would never do it as not only was the noise too unpleasant but very well might cause hearing loss. I believe the reviews on the SinuPulse Elite Advanced Nasal Sinus Irrigation System are being closely monitored by the seller and others with financial incentive. Just watch how fast this review gets marked as unhelpful and the 5-star reviews get marked as helpful. Grossan Hydro Pulse Nasal and Sinus Irrigation System with the Original Grossan Sinus Tip is much quieter but I think I get the best cleanse with the squeeze bottles you can buy here on amazon or in local drugstores that have the easiest maintenance and so cheap you can just throw out at the end of each month and not worry about the grossan manufacturer standing behind the warranty if it clunks out after 30 days like mine did.

UPDATE 9/5/2010 I have had a sensitive nose all my life so my sinuses need extra special care! I tried Grossan Hydro Pulse Nasal and Sinus Irrigation System with the Original Grossan Sinus Tip /Hydro Pulse® with DVD Video Instructions Sinus Care Kit by Grossan and thought it worked great and was very helpful but the tubing seems to spring leaks quickly even when you cleanse system after each and every use so it is expensive when it has to be replaced too often. I also have tried the SinuPulse Elite Advanced Nasal Sinus Irrigation System with the mister but it was so so noisy and sounded like fingernails dragged across a chalkboard screeching with an accompanied motorized clunking sound. I much prefer this waterpik sinusense water pulsator. It runs on 3 AA batteries which are included but you will need to install before first use which requires a screwdriver; and is really pretty quiet with just a mundane humming noise. The one piece of tubing used is the size of a straw drawing the water out of the reservoir into the pump so it doesn't move much and looks much sturdier than the HydroPulse and SinuPulse Elite so hopefully will hold up. It is easy to fill, handle, use and clean. It is much more portable than the other two larger sinus cleaning machines. The on-off trigger is easy and convenient to use. The only thing that keeps me from giving it 5 stars is that there is not control over the pulsating strength which I would not call gentle. I wonder if it is gentle enough to have the healing effect on the villa that the pulsating is supposed to have. In any event, it does its job. It cleaned my sinuses well. Walgreen had a in-store coupon for $10 off and I got a manufacturer's coupon off Waterpik's website for another $5 off plus it was on sale for $3 off so I am very happy with the price I paid although I don't think Walgreen's has as good of a return policy as Amazon if something was to go wrong. Also, I had to pay sales tax which pretty much offset the $5 coupon. I also like that the Waterpik Sinusense is bpa free and I don't remember the other two more expensive machines claiming to be so they are probably not. I want only the very best care and also appreciate that the SinuSense didn't have a strong odor of any kind to it. I recommend the Waterpik SWI 615 Sinusense Water Pulsator Includes 15 Soothing Saline Packs With Aloe Vera and Eucalyptus, Blue/white.

WHAT'S THE STORY on the noise? It sounds like a spoon caught in a garbage disposal. Water Pics for teeth don't scream like this; why does this pump sound like a wounded animal? The unit is high-maintenace both in set-up and clean up. I was better off with the squeeze bottle (and, in fact, continue to use it) than this overpriced, useless unit. If you are getting it for tonsiliths, go with a plastic syringe (sans needle of course) and save yourself $100. It's a waste of money and is bound for the junk heap of useless products.

I first saw this unit in a catalog, and it does look beautiful. Unfortunately, the reality of the product is nothing like its design. I get migraine headaches and they are somehow connected my sinus passages, if my sinuses close up on one side this can be a migraine trigger. So, first sign of nasal swelling, I set up this lovely little machine. I should have known better, I should have read the other one star reviews more closely. Yes it is very noisy, and sound is another migraine trigger for me. My sinuses seemed to swell up even more after the assault by this machine, and I surely got the migraine. It is a huge deal to clean after use. I did not return it because I did not feel comfortable returning it to possibly be sold to someone else because I had used it, so it went back in the box and I guess I will donate it somewhere. It is a nice looking device, but boy, does it not work for me. I am going to stick to Simply Saline, or others spray from the drugstore, I like the one with aloe in it as well. Those are kind of expensive, but I probably could have bought a whole years supply for the cost of this little disaster. I've also got a huge supple of those little salt packets as well. Funny thing, the first one I opened of this pure salt, had a little black fleck in it! Go figure...

    Reviewer: kc_sunshine101,
EDITED TO ADD (5/30/10): I am almost positive that most of the glowing reviews here are the result of a marketing ploy. After I left my negative review last night, by the time I woke up at 5:30am this morning, I had an e-mail from the company saying that they monitor their reviews and that they wanted to work with me to make sure that I am satisfied. Normally, I would be up for that, except for the fact that the e-mail they sent me was via a message board that I frequent that has nothing to do with Amazon. So, basically, they went out of their way to do a search on my user name and contact me via a place where they had no business going. Shady and creepy. I am now more confident than ever that I will be returning this and never recommending this item to anyone else. Please beware of the ever increasing power of marketing tactics on Amazon!

After using this daily for a little over 2 weeks, I am going to return it. I have a very long history of allergy & sinus problems. I have tried everything under the sun from surgery (twice) to dietary changes (didn't work). When I was younger, my ENT recommended that I use a Waterpik w/ the sinus attachment daily. I remember getting some relief from that but, being so young (I was about 13/14 at the time), I didn't use it consistently. I really wanted to buy the Waterpik again, but it looks like they no longer offer the attachment. I bought this machine after reading all of the positive reviews here and I really hoped that this would be similar, but it's not.

First of all, this thing is LOUD. It makes the most horrible screeching noise on the planet. It is so loud that you can forget about using it when someone in your household is sleeping. Since my roommate sleeps until noon, I had to stop using it in the AM and started using it in the PM only. I think that this company can do better--it's not hard to make a machine with a quiet motor. For close to $100, I expected higher quality. If the thing had actually worked for me, I would be able to look past the horrific noise and suck it up, but this seemed to make my sinus problems WORSE, if you can believe it. I would use it and, about an hour afterward, my nose would get terribly congested and clogged. When I would blow my nose, the contents would come out clear, but my nose would remain stuffy all night long. While allergies suck, I can at least breathe through my nose most of the time and get some sleep. After using this, my nose would remain irritated and stuffy all night until I took a shower in the morning where it finally seemed to drain.

I don't know why I seem to be the exception in this case. Maybe my sinuses are just horribly sensitive and cannot handle the irrigation level that this machine provides. That still doesn't explain why the Waterpik used to work for me. Either way, this was not the miracle I was hoping for, and I am going to get my $80 back ASAP.

I bought one at the Mayo Clinic, for more money, and so glad I did. I have no immune system, but I don't worry as much if someone comes over with a cough. Odors, including smoke disappear and there are no side effects from it's use. I have the larger unit, as shown in my main living area and a small plug in one in my home office. The air smells fresher, even in winter with all the windows closed. I know what UV can do to a fish tank or pond, and this is the technology used in Operating rooms around the world. There are no costly replacement filters, and no messy germ filled pads to replace, the new bulb, once a year, or so is a bargain. Get several. do you share to kill germs. This works,. figure out what one cold costs.... and do the math.
A must if you work in an office!

I bought my Germ Guardian over two years ago and it continues to run without problems. My administrative assistant laughed and made all sorts of jokes about it in my office but after she was out sick three times to my none, she didn't think it so silly anymore!

I would recommend this for an single room, office or cubicle setting. We also have a Honeywell UV in the home HVAC for the whole house. We have been very healthy for some time until recently when I noticed that the bulb burned out. Coincidence?

I have the stainless steel model. It is very well built. It looks like some kind of Star Trek device. I wanted the metal housing because the UV rays will break down the plastic housing of other units over time.

I've had this product running 24/7 for several years now. I had some flooding issues in the basement and could smell a musty odor until I ran the Germ Guardian 24/7. The smell is gone. The first bulb lasted over 2 years. I bought a twin pack, each bulb lasting just a few months. Germ Guardian replaced both - great customer service! I can hear the fan but it is not loud.
    great product-best purchase I've made!

I purchased one of these for our great room and I also purchased the GG-1000 model for my sons bedroom. Our Family had been passing around soar throats, colds and the kids had ear infections since October. They would get better from the antibiotic and as soon as they were off it, they would be sick again. Since putting this in our home, (knock on wood) no one in the family has had a cold and that is awesome, especially because of the holidays and all the stomach flu-like symptoms that were going around...we didn't get it!!! I have ended up putting one of the GG-1000 UV models in every bedroom and one in the kitchen as well. I highly recommend this unit based on the few months we have owned them.

I have purchased 3 of these Germ Gaurdians. The chrome one for the living room (also comes in other colors) and it definitely cleans the air etc. I have 2 of the table top machine, one for the computer room and one in the bedroom. I sleep much better at night because the air is fresh and clean and clear to breathe fresh air while sleeping is great. I feel the Germ Gaurdian is worth the money. The larger unit has a 5 yr warranty, compared to others only having a 1-2 yr warranty. I highly recommend either of these units. My grand-daughters even tell me how much better the air is and how much cleaner the house smells.

Every morning I'd wake up with sinus congestion. I attributed this to dust mites and did what I could ... mattress covers, etc. ... which helped to an extent ... but when I put this in my bedroom and left it on overnight, I awoke the next morning to no stuffy nose! Highly recommend!
    Great odor eliminator!

I run it whenever I have to close the window, and the air conditioning is not on. I have two units in my house; I put one in the kitchen and run it overnight. No more musty odors in the morning! It works and I bet lots of molds and mildrews get eliminated.

I find this to be very effective. We bought two. One is next to our air intake for our central air conditioning/heating unit, and the other is in the bedroom. We live in Florida where there's a high quantity of mold in the air, and we had a smell in our house that we couldn't get rid of, even with an ozone machine. Once we got these units, within a day or two the smell was gone. I suspect this has effectively killed mold spores in the air.

As others have noted, it does have a "white noise" sound. One unit is in the room where we watch television and it's no problem whatsoever. In the bedroom, I don't care for the noise, but my wife finds it soothing. The unit does put out light - it's the UV lightbulb inside that you can see. We want our bedroom dark at night, so we turn it off. We then turn it back on in the morning. This works fine for us.

One of the lightbulbs died within a few weeks of purchase. We called the company and they sent us another bulb immediately. It's been running fine. I had read somewhere that they had a batch of bad bulbs and we must have gotten one. I thing these units do a great job for a very reasonable price.
Have had one for a couple years, works great!

I have had one germ guardian at home for two years and no one in my family has been sick. This year, I decided to buy another one for my son's classroom and the teacher is thrilled to have it. No one has been sick in her classroom since it has been there. Hey if this machine can prevent germs in a classroom and prevent me from taking time off of work to care for my sick child, it is more than worth it. Don't understand how it works, but it does and with all the airborne illnesses, I would recommend it to everyone, and I have.

I can't tell you how exciting it is not to have my three children continue to reinfect each other. I highly recommend getting a couple, one for the bedroom and one for the family room. You won't be disappointed!

    Review Date: October 18, 2008
    Reviewer: C. Jones,
This product works to STERILIZE air by destroying bacteria and mold spores DNA and does so well...if you are looking for something to remove particulate matter i'd buy a rabbit air by mitsubishi...OUTSTANDING PRODUCT FOR THE PRICE or IQ Air, BluAir, or Austin which are also outstanding but plan to spend some bucks for those units....this UV unit makes an EXCELLENT supplement....to those who complain about the low fan speed, if you research UV-C you'll understand why the fan speed is somewhat low which in turn does create less air exchange. The product does not claim to clean germs and mold in the air in a 200sqft space more than once in an hour.....which obviously by most air purifier standards is extremely minimal...BUT...find me a better machine at killing mold toxins and bacteria at the DNA level? Bacteria and mold need time in the aluminum lined light chamber to be destroyed so the germ guardian air exchange is low to allow the unit to perform its job while the aluminum intensifies the strength of the light. UV will also destroy some VOC's but not remove particulate matter (dust, dander, allergens etc). The bottom line is this product WORKS to KILL MOLD AND BACTERIA VERY WELL! Two of these units took the musty mold smell out of a room in our office and made it smell almost sterile or hospital like (obviously proper mold remediation is crucial too depending on the scope of your problem). If you are trying to sterilize a large space (more than 200sqft) I would add this a supplement to a larger machine or buy two. Again, EXCELLENT device if you are looking to STERILIZE your air! Hospitals use the same UV technology to sterilize air...if dust, dander, and other particulates are an issue buy a rabbit or other HEPA air purifier mentioned above and buy this to enhance sterilization.

3-13-10 update - The product quality has come under fire and I can only report that I've been using my two units 24/7 for 1.5 years and the bulbs have been fine. My first bulb started flickering and went bad just recently. Not doubting others troubles but ased on some of the other quality control problems I've read here I guess I've been lucky. My bulbs have worked great and fans arent completely quiet but not loud either. The manufacture does suggest replacing bulbs annually and I would agree. Seems after about a year they have lost some intensity due to their small size. In my opinion the unit could be a larger with bigger more intense bulbs to maximize larger room sterilization.
    Works for specific problems.

This is not a general air cleaner. It will not filter dust at all. I would recommend using a HEPA filter if you suffer from allergies. On the other hand, that also means that the Germ Guardian has no filters to clean or replace.

What it does do is blast viruses and bacteria with UV light to break them up and render them harmless. The advertising is correct: my wife works in a lab, and this is the same method of air sterilization used in hospitals and labs. The narrow tube in the middle of the Germ Guardian ensures that the air moving through it passes close to the UV light bulb and anything in it gets a strong dose of high-energy light. The slow fan speed also ensures that they spend a decent amount of time under the light. This is a feature, not a bug.

The good news is, once they're dead, they're dead. Unless you have someone constantly sneezing and coughing right next to you, I wouldn't worry about how quickly it filters. Just leave it running for a while, and the air you breathe will have far fewer living critters in it.

I've owned mine for 3 years and while I can't prove that it's responsible, it does seem to work. The build quality is great, and it looks like they've added new colors to the line, in addition to "sci-fi stainless".

Four stars only because it could be a little quieter.

we bought one of these a while back and liked how it worked. we keep it in our family room where we spend most of our time. my son used to get croup a lot and "knock on wood" he hasn't since. we bought another one for the bedroom since winter is coming. the only negative is that it's a little noisy but with two boys, they tend to drown it out. plus, we all sleep best with "white noise". i would definately recommend this product.

The canister has a fan speed control and at low speeds, the fan is pretty quiet. I have the portable Germ Guardian also, and the portable's fan is fairly noisy and is one speed. After 2 months, both are on without any issues. Since i really do not know how well they are sanitizing the air, i am giving both 4 Stars. I would like to see lab reports on how effective they really are. Nevertheless, i have them both on most of the time. Both seem to be well made. The stainless steel one is sturdy and nice looking.

After just a day or so, my room smelled better than it did. And almost a week later, I am still happy with it.

I had a leak in the closet that I happened to have repaired the same day the unit came. Im wondering if Mold from that leak was in the air ?

Also, it seems my nose is less stuffy in the morning when I wake up. Dust mites ? Mold ? My imagination ?

Placebo effect ? Its possible I guess but I can take mine back locally for 100% of my money back and Im planning on keeping it. (Samsclub)
Believe me, I would NOT keep it if I didnt think it was helping.

Unlike some other posters, Its not noisy at all to me and the light isnt TOO bright than one cant sleep with it on.

Now, I am wondering if I should "cut out" the spot in the ceiling where the leak was ? Im guessing about 12x12 inches or so.

Anyone with suggestions, please leave a comment.

I ordered two of these from Amazon for use in a large bedroom for a person with ongoing health issues. The order arrived very quickly and I anxiously tried the units to see how they operated initially. As soon as I turned on the first I could hear the fan literally rattling loud enough to sound like it was on the verge of failing. And that was when it was set on low speed! On high speed it was obnoxious. The other unit was definitely quieter but not nearly quiet enough to be used in any bedroom. Amazon was superb and sent two replacements via 1-day air without hesitation and paid return shipping for the bad units. I could not ask for better service from them.

Of the two replacements, one fan initially ran with a noticeable rattle and the other rattled very lightly. Possibly as quiet as it may ever be. After 48 hours the rattling sounds have diminished but the units are still too noisy for use in a bedroom. Both have an irritating whine in addition to the sound of air movement and that sound cannot be ignored in an otherwise quiet room. So they cannot be used in a bedroom for anyone but a very sound sleeper. I have kept one in the bedroom but turn it off at night. The noisier of the two stays running in a different room.

I wish I could evaluate these on their effectiveness at cleaning the air but it's too early for that. However, the significant variation between the behavior of 4 units can be evaluated and makes me question their construction quality before ever getting to the germ killing issue. Not a great start and not very impressive. If we see some apparent improvement in air quality or health issues diminish with time I will modify this review. I hope it will be possible to report some very positive results because the concept seems a good one, especially for those with health problems.

There is a definite quality issue here in that 4 units all have noticeable differences in noisiness from their fans and all fans emit a rattling sound as if they are worn or out of balance and on the verge of failing. Fan technology is certainly nothing new and for what these units cost, it is not asking too much to expect a quiet, quality fan.

If you buy these please know that they are not whisper-quiet and don't be surprised if they even sound as if something may be wrong.

Updated January 2010: As I said earlier, these are too noisy for use in a bedroom, so one there is only operated during the day. The other in a common area has been operated continuously since it was received, roughly 3 months ago, and the bulb just burned out--far short of the manufacturers estimate. Considering these bulbs are not cheap to replace at $25 + shipping, I contacted the manufacturer. They were extremely responsive, courteous, and agreed the failure was premature. They stood by their recommendation to operate the unit continuously and stated the bulb life should be 8-10 months with that use. They immediately shipped me a new bulb at no cost and got it to me much faster than I had expected. I cannot speak to the health benefit of operating these units and the jury is still out regarding their quality, but the company has been reputable and responsible in standing by their product and reliability claims. So far, I won't expect more than that. We'll see what happens with the new bulb and hope that we realize some health benefits from them.

So I've bought the Germ Guardian UV air sanitizer....

    Wwwwwweeeeeellllllll............

I have crunched some numbers from the manufacturer own data and it turns out that it would take this device close to a week of continuous operation on full blast to clean the air in one average sized bedroom..... (60 hours to get most of it) That's if the microbes are not replenished from any source.... Otherwise it will barely make a dent.

I took into account that the clean air is inevitably mixed with the contaminated air, therefore the contaminated air is only getting diluted by the clean air...

I've crunched some more numbers and arrived at a conclusion that cracking a window one inch will accomplish the same level of air cleanliness in 1 hour as this device will produce in 24. Assuming that is that the air outside is twice as clean as inside, which is a very, very conservative estimate.

This device is not totally useless however.
You could conceivably use it in a small windowless bathroom, or a walk-in closet, where it would be somewhat effective.

It is well built, but not quiet, at all...

In conclusion I think this product was "designed" rather than "engineered". Well obviously no one has done the math on whether or not it will be effective. Also, an engineer with a rudimentary knowledge of physics would have made this thing with a thick layer incombustible sound insulation. (The lamp is not very hot, the fan caries away the heat, and a temperature switch can be installed as a safety) The designer has also left his mark by making sure this thing draws as much attention to itself as possible, while not fitting into any decor.

I bought one of these from the local Lowe's and returned it. The fan in it was loud even on the lowest setting. This would have been fine if it were moving a lot of air, but as the others on here have said it barely moves air.. so why all the noise? It was louder than my computer.
Also, it doesn't need to move a lot of air through it to treat all of the air in a room over the course of 24hrs.
I'll try another at some point.. and if it's loud then I'll swap the fan for a higher quality one.
Decent product but does not cover room adequately

After hearing about this product and reading the reviews, decided to get one for our newborn baby. The problem however, is that this does not cover the entire room even on its "high" setting. Over the course of an hour, I would say this thing covers only a sixth of the air in our room (12 x 12). I put my hand in front of the sanitizer and could barely feel any airflow and this was on the high setting. I've only had this product for a month so I will have to follow-up on durability.

First month impression is this thing is too weak to adequately sanitize an entire room. If it were a bit stronger, would give a better rating. I feel like I will return this item and get a stronger air cleaner, or buy 3 of these (not practical).
Poor construction, extremely noisy, bulb failure

    Review Date: November 6, 2009
    Reviewer: Jessica I. Salerno,

I'm a sustainable building consultant in Hawaii where we have very high humidity levels and indoor air quality issues are very common. I purchased two Germ Guardians recently. My purchase was both for personal use, and to provide a consumer review for my clients.

After less than a month of use, the bulb started to flicker and died in one unit. I am very familiar with UV-C sterilizing lights and have used them reliably for years in koi pond, potable water, and HVAC applications. I've never seen a bulb fail so quickly. In fact, quality UV bulbs typically last for several years even though their effectiveness diminishes over time. Note, that the bulbs are extremely expensive for UV C applications.

Additionally I find the fan units of these devices to be very loud, so much so that they cannot be used in a room if the room is occupied, and certainly not in a bedroom. I measured the sound at 5 feet at 50 decibels. And yes I take sound measurements professionally. Thats 4 sones! The industry standard threshold for bathroom fans for example is one sone.

I have not yet disassembled one, but expect to find poor construction and cheap components.

I don't feel I have received a quality product for the price.

The concept is great, and there is a market, but the quality of this particular product is not at a marketable level in my opinion.

Filters the air yes, but low airflow is one result

The amount of crud that was coming in to the house through my Windows was alarming. This was the first solution I tried. It does work well as a filter. The dirt does not come in. The down side is that the airflow is severly reduced. There is still some exchange of air but it is not very much.

I have larger windows and the largest of these is not sufficient. I split it into 2 parts and stacked them to get more coverage. My second trial solution, on a different window screen, was AllerTech® Vent Guard (16" X 60"), which is a roll of poly about 1/4" thick that I decided you can hand sew to the screen. Yep, I used just a needle and thread with simple stitches, in about 2 minutes. This second solution allows much more airflow and seems to filter all the solid matter. The AllerTech is in the dirtier airflow window and now it seems nothing comes in but the breeze.
Does what it says it does.

This screen does keep pollen and other pollutants out of your home. It's a shame that it accomplishes this by not allowing air to flow through it as well. You might as well leave your window closed.
